6 Ways To Wake Up Early In the Morning

July 31, 2012

Sleeping is not on how long we slept, but on how well we sleep. The main point is the quality of sleeping rather than the quantity. Although we have slept for eight hours, it's useless for us, if our sleep were not effective, and our sleeping position had made us felt uncomfortable.

The often you wake up in the middle of the night, will determine that your sleeping hour is not effective. Your body will feel that you haven't got enough rest, after waking up early in the morning. If you are working with shift work like me, you will also experince the same way, hard to get up early in the morning. Here are some ways that might help.

Go to Bed Earlier
In order to wake up at 4 am, at least I had to take a night sleep at 9 pm. Although sometimes, my busy overtime work, had made me getting home at 11 pm, and I must get back to work at 6 am on the next day. The disease of being sleepy will haunt me at that 1st day of the month, when my shift work has changed, from midday shift at 10 am to 6 pm, into morning shift at 6 am to 2 pm. Then I will use the trick from my previous post How to Get Rid of Being Sleepy.

Start Your Daily Activity Earlier
If you normally start your daily activities at 8 am, add some additional activities at least an hour before. For example, jogging, swimming, cooking your own breakfast, or doing whatever activity you love most, as long as you are enjoy doing it. Make your new activity as daily routine activity, so that it'll become part of your new lifestyle.

How about myself? I'm not exactly adding some activities. What can I do on 4 am in the morning? I just jump off from my bed, perhaps I may water the plants on my garden. And then took a shower at 4.30 am, breakfast at 5 am, and went to work at 5.15 am. It only takes 15 minutes for me to arrive at my place of work.

Avoid Consuming Coffee, Alcohol, and Chocolate Before Going To Bed
The study had shown that above types of foods and beverages are the most potentially sources that will disrupt your sleep. Also if you start to have your dinner above 7 pm, for example you're dining at 8 pm, and went to bed at 9 pm, it can make your stomach to digest at whole night, and your sleep will become uncomfortable.

Place a Glass of Water Near The Bed
Once you wake up, the 1st thing you should do is to drink glass of water that you has been provided. This is useful to get your body ready for your daily activities, and you wouldn't feel lazy anymore, or wanted to go back to sleep again. In order to be more healthier, or improve your health, you may add more glass of water to do water therapy.

Use At Least 2 Warning Alarm Clocks
Why I say at least 2 alarm clocks? Because I'm using 3 alarm clocks. Three? Yeah 3 warning alarm clocks, in which one of them is the sleepy killer alarm. In case I went back to sleep after turning off my killer alarm, I also use another 2 warning alarm using my 2 cell phones, in which each phone will ring every 5 minutes after the killer alarm.

Make It a Habit
OK! You've managed to get up early from Monday to Saturday (I still work on saturday) for instance. And then? May I wake up at 10 am on Sunday? No! I'm not. I must go to church on the 1st Mass at 6 am. If I'm not able to wake up at 4 am on Sunday morning, then I took the 3rd Mass on the afternoon at 5 pm.

One thing you should remember is that to make your schedule which has become your new habit. If you have already getting used to for a week to get up early, your body will wake up itself at the same hour. But, if your routine schedule is broken, suddenly you're waking up late for 3 days in a row for instance, your body will follow the new schedule.

Do you have an insomnia? You find yourself difficult to sleep at night! Read my previous post 10 Ways to Get a Good Night's Sleep, or if you are having trouble of being sleepy at work, then you may read the post How to Get Rid of Being Sleepy. I hope you gain health by keeping a healthy habit for your better life.

Being Arrogant is Healthy

July 25, 2012

I'm the man, said Mario BalotelliImage from Guim.co.uk

I guess, none of you would agree with the above title, just as my friend who didn't agree with this kind of expression. Being arrogant is healthy? Are you kidding me? That kind of question will come out from your mind instantly. How come?

Free your mind! Try to think above title with a very simple way!

Can you be proud, if you're sick?

Can you be proud, if you don't have any money at all?

Can you be proud, if you're in trouble?
Stress with your job, or tired with your Boss's attitude, for instance. If so, what can you be proud of from your work?

You can feel of being arrogant, only if..

You are healthy, physically and mentally
If you're mentally ill, then others will think that you are crazy. A person with mental illness, sometimes is acting of being arrogant to hide his real condition.

Cash in your wallet thick
Instead of contains with dozens of credit cards, your wallet must have contained with dozens of debit cards. Your account scattered in various banks, or other financial institutions. You can't buy your friend drinks to show off yourself, if you don't have enough money.

But..

Sometimes we haven't notice, that what we just said to others, was considered as an arrogant speech. Even after we realized what we have said, we were too stubborn to apologize.

Although being arrogant means that you are healthy person, but it's better for us to keep our profile lower as possible. You don't have to feel stress, if anyone had ignored you for what you've done. Silence is golden becomes the key after the incident. Better of listening to other, despite of starting new conversation.

How To Find Quality Dofollow Backlink As Many As You Can

July 20, 2012

Backlinks can help improve your website rank in search engines result pages, and the more sites are linking to yours, your site's reputation will also increasing. Most webmasters are in quest to find as many as possible dofollow backlink for their site, especially from the high quality, or high PR sites. For most webmasters, dofollow backlink is worth a lot than nofollow backlink.

But I'm disagree with that, in my own perception, your nofollow backlinks are worth as your dofollow backlinks. Just like nofollow backlinks that you've got, by placing your website URL on social media profiles, such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, and etc. Though it's possible get dofollow backlinks from those social media, if you can manage to gain lots of traffic from them (as referring site).

The difference is that your nofollow backlinks may not all appear on your Alexa's Sites Linking to your site pages.

But, all of them are appeared on your Google Webmaster Tools Links to Your Site pages. Alexa counts all your backlinks, eventhough the links (the pages) have been removed from the sites, or the sites were no longer exist (dead links), but Google doesn't.

Compared to Alexa, Google counts the links that still alive or exist, and didn't describe the pages URL that linked to your site like Alexa did, only number of links and linked pages. Google counts only domain name, for example, blogspot and wordpress blogs are only counted by its domain name.

I once wrote about the strange of backlinks on Alexa. In my previous post Backlink from Your Own Blog, I described that you can get dofollow backlink from your blogs. So far, I only got 1 backlink from my blog, but I saw another blogger's blog got 5 multiple backlinks from his own blog URL.

But wait..!

Have you add your site to Google Webmaster and claim your site on Alexa? You must have done it first, in order that Google and Alexa are paying more intention to your site. The higher your website PR, the more frequently Googlebot and Alexa crawl your site.

I assume that you probably had already Googling for search term dofollow blog, list of dofollow blog, edu and gov wordpress blog, or high PR commentluv blog, etc.

For example, hancur.it with its post title List of High PR .edu Dofollow Blogs 2012, is on page one from your Googling result.

Then you visit hancur.it, read the post for about 2 minutes. You are curious with the list, in which probably more than 10 links. And then you start to click one by one of the links, or copy paste one by one to a new tab, to visit all links.

Let's say, it takes a minute to load each link. What was your result? Did you satisfy with the result? I assume that you just spent about 12 minutes of worthless pageview visit to hancur.it. I guess that most of the links on the list are probably dead. You have forgotten the main point here.

Have you ever wonder whether if hancur.it had visited all those links, or already got backlinks from one of them? I bet that hancur.it's webmaster never actually try to click all links on its list, he just only gatherred the lists (copy paste) from others.

So, what's the point then?

Let me ask you! Who was the one who counted your dofollow backlink? If you read my post carefully, you'll know the answer right away....

...mmm.. Yap, Alexa. Alexa is the dofollow backlinks source. That's why, there're no sites got backlink from Alexa.com, whether is nofollow or dofollow, even Google.com (the #1 Alexa rank).

Go to Alexa website! Search for your site's niche! For example: you type blogging, and then the top result with most traffic and rank is ngemengepeh.co.uk. Click on it! You will go to ngemengepeh.co.uk's site info. Have a look on the site reputation! How many does ngemengepeh.co.uk's sites linking in? Let's say it has 14,256 sites linking in.

Click on the number! You will go to sites linking to ngemengepeh.co.uk (page1). There you go! You have seen the top 100 (5 pages) dofollow sites lists of ngemengepeh.co.uk. Now, all you have to do is eliminate the list one by one! If on the top 20 (page 1) are only backlink from high PR sites such as Google.com, Yahoo.com, Twitter.com, Bing.com, and Youtube.com, it will be hard for you to get those backlinks.

Now, move on to the top 40 (page 2)! Look for the site that contain pages or dates. For example you see on the number 21 is:

wewegombel.ac.in
wewegombel.ac.in/it/blogging/2012/07/best_list.html

There are 3 possibilities lay within the link. ngemengepeh.co.uk may get doffolow backlink directly from the post article, by commenting, or the page was no longer exist (dead links). And still, it's worth to check it out, to add value to yourself, better than following the lists from webmasters who haven't got backlinks from the lists, just like hancur.it did.

But.. There is always but..

Your 1st visit to best_list.html page for instance, from copy paste the link, will be consider as a spam visit. Why? Because your referring site was unknown. You must at least bookmarks the site to visit again, or visit from search engine by Googling for wewegombel.ac.in.

Ups.. I've forgot to describe about the main point, the more easiest way. Back to the googling result example above! The top result from the example above was hancur.it. Check the Alexa's sites linking to hancur.it! Now, you will know whether hancur.it's webmaster has been made a fool of you or not.

How To Choosing Where To Live

July 17, 2012

Home Sweet Home

The problems in building, or buying a house are essentially the same. Begin by choosing a community that suits your family's needs.

Question you should ask are as follows:

Is the general character of the community appealing to you?

Does the town have good public recreation facilities, such as park areas, tennis courts, baseball field, and swimming pool?

What is the caliber of the schools? Are the teachers good? Are the buildings new, or in good repair? How many children are there to a class?

Is there a place of worship for your religion?

Is convenient public transportation available for each member of your family? Are there buses, trains, or street-cars to businesses, schools, and stores?

How far will you have to travel to your place of work? How long will it take? How much will it cost?

Do police and fire departments operate quickly and efficiently in an emergency?

Does the town have a reputation as a safe place to live? Are adequate local medical and hospital facilities available?

Will the local stores satisfy your tastes and needs? Do their prices come within your budget?

What is the quality of the local government?
Municipal decisions will affect the development of your town and the amount of your taxes.

Use these standards to judge your neighbourhood:

Are nearby houses and properties deteriorating, or improving?

What are the zoning regulations? Can a factory or a store be built next to your house?

Is the house you are considering more expensive than other nearby?
If so, you may be unable to sell it for as much you paid.

Are there noise nuisances nearby, such as an airport or a railroad?

Is there a steeply graded road next to the house that will require shifting of gears, and applying of brakes by heavy trucks, day and night?

Are nearby roads heavily travelled and dangerous?

Are you in the path of industrial fumes, or other disagreeable odors?
Check the prevailing winds on a week day when business and factories are open!

Will you like your neighbours? Are they in your financial and educational strata?
Chances are you will be most happy with people with similar likes and values.

If you are parents, do your neighbours have children of approximately the same age as yours?

Make sure your Home Sweet Home is the best place for your children's basic and main education!

What Garlic Can Do For Your Health

July 13, 2012

Garlic

Garlic, bulb-bearing perennial plant, Allium sativum Liliaceae, native to southern Europe, and widely cultivated in many parts of the world. Garlic plants, which are closely related to the onion, grow to a height of up 1 to 2 ft., and have very narrow, sword shaped leaves.

Ancient Traditions History

The earliest references of garlic as medicinal and culinary plant are found on Sumerian clay tablets (2600–2100 BC.). The use of garlic as medication for Egyptians, was listed in the Codex Ebers (1550 BC).

Ancient Chinese medication used garlic to help respiration, digestion, diarrhea and worm infestation. Ancient medical traditions in India (Tibbi, Unani and Auryveda), had made extensive use of garlic as a central part of the healing efficacy of plants.

Charaka-Samhita, an Indian ancient medical text, recommends garlic to treat heart disease and arthritis. While another ancient Indian medical textbook, Bower Manuscript (300), garlic was used for fatigue, parasitic disease, digestive disorder and leprosy.

Anti-Bacterial and Antiseptic

Louis Pasteur was the first who reported the antibacterial and antifungal properties of garlic. Albert Schweitzer then used this concept to treat dysentery in Africa with garlic. Pietro Mattiali, 16th century physician from Siena, prescribed garlic for digestive disorders, worms infestation, renal disorders, and also to help mother during difficult childbirth.

In England, garlic was used for toothache, constipation, dropsy and plague. Garlic was used as an antiseptic to prevent gangrene during World War I and World War II.

In an uncontrolled study in China, garlic has been used reasonably successfully in AIDS patients to treat Cryptosporidium, a protozoan that can cause gastro-intestinal illness with diarrhea in humans. Cryptosporidium is the organism most commonly isolated in HIV positive patients presenting with diarrhea. It has also been used by at least one AIDS patient to treat toxoplasmosis, another protozoal disease.

Stamina Booster

Ancient Chinese medicine used combinations of herbs to form a healing tonic. Garlic was used to treat fatigue, headache, insomnia, and improve male potency.

During the 1st Olympics in Greece, garlic was used by many athletes for increasing stamina. In 2007, the BBC reported that garlic may have other beneficial properties, such as preventing and fighting the common cold.

My friend had known this kind of information, 7 years before. In 2000, I was having an outbond (student camp) to train new college students. My friend used garlic to fight cold weather, when we were at Cuban Rondo, Batu, East Java. How? He directly ate it, just like eating an apple.

Anti Cancer Effects

Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used garlic to treat cervical cancer. Various studies did show the ability of garlic in prevent and treat cancers, mainly caused by the material-hazardous chemicals, such as prostate cancer, stomach cancer, colorectal (colon and rectum) cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, skin cancer, and lung cancer.

In China, garlic was also shown to reduce the risk of esophageal and stomach cancers by 70%. The effectiveness of garlic against cancers due to the presence of allyl sulfur components. The main property of garlic for therapeutic effects is as an effective antioxidant against oxidative damage in cardiovascular diseases.

Garlic is also commonly used as an alternative medication by most diabetic patients, because it can improve hyperglycemia in diabetic patients. The antihyperglycemic effect of garlic has been reported in several studies. Regular and prolonged use of garlic on therapeutic amounts, has been shown to prevent some complications of diabetes mellitus. Although, the information about the effects of garlic on the diabetic heart is very limited.

Pros and Cons

The effectiveness of garlic in cardiovascular diseases was prompted many scientists to conduct experimental studies, but many negative studies also have cast doubt on the efficary of garlic, especially its cholesterol lowering effect of garlic. Clinical trial funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the US, in 2007, had found that the consumption of garlic in any form, did not reduce blood cholesterol levels, in patients with moderately high baseline cholesterol levels.

A 2012 report in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, concludes that:

There is insufficient clinical trial evidence regarding the effects of garlic in preventing or treating the common cold. A single trial suggested that garlic may prevent occurrences of the common cold but more studies are needed to validate this finding. Claims of effectiveness appear to rely largely on poor-quality evidence.

Lipid Lowering Effect

Since 1975 there have been more than 46 (from medline search) human studies on lipid-lowering effects of garlic and garlic preparations. The studies were mostly randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled using garlic powder rather than raw garlic, in hyperlipidemic patients for 4–16 weeks. Most studies showed significant decrease in serum cholesterol and serum triglyceride.

Only about one-third of the studies measured lipoproteins, where significant favorable changes in LDL-cholesterol level (11–26% decrease) were consistently observed. A few studies using garlic powder (having low allicin yields) failed to show any lipid lowering effects.

During the last one decade (1993–2002), 18 clinical studies have been published regarding the hypolipedemic effect of garlic. Nine studies showed negative results and garlic powder was used in seven of these studies.

Different composition and quantity of sulfur components, from different garlic preparations, that used in various studies, might result to the inconsistent findings. So, in order to meet valid conclusion, it might need for standardization of different garlic preparations. It also include the subject recruitment, duration of study, dietary control, lifestyle and methods of lipid analyses.

How To Gain Maximum Benefit From Garlic

Be aware on processing garlic! It can turn off its anticancer power agents. When garlic is processed, or heated one minute in microwave, the efficacy of garlic as anticancer will be gone. So what then? Should it be swallowed raw?

It's simple. Destroy garlic (chopped, crushed, or thinly sliced) then let it stand for 15 minutes before cooking (used as seasoning). In 15 minutes, chemical reaction occurs, in which activates allinase enzyme, present in garlic. If you want, you may also consume raw garlic, but still it must be first crushed and left for 15 minutes.

Negative Side Effects

Don't think that the more you are consuming garlic, the better the results. The recommended dose for consumption garlic is 4-5 grams of garlic/ day (about 1-2 cloves). If too much, it will cause bad breath (garlic breath) and skin.

Sometimes is also causing allergies, digestive disorders (vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, excessive gas production), bronchial asthma, dermatitis, reducing levels of protein and calcium in the blood. Too much garlic will also reduce sperm production, increasing the risk of bleeding, due to its ability to prevent blood clotting.

Therefore, the person who is going to have a surgery, or has recently undergone surgery, having pregnancy, and after childbirth surgery, garlic consumption should be limited, although culinary quantities are safe for consumption. Because garlic able to improve the work of enzymes in the liver, to remove toxins from the body. This capability is very useful for you to be more healthier. But it can also get rid of chemotherapeutic drugs in the body, or drug-medication that you had swallowed.

So, if you want to increase the consumption of garlic, or you might want to use the product supplement based on garlic, you must consult your doctor first!

Simfoni Luar Biasa (A Special Symphony): A Film by Awi Suryadi

July 07, 2012

Simfoni Luar Biasa

Simfoni Luar Biasa, in which titled when played in Philippines as A Special Symphony, was a film that used 3 languages, Bahasa Indonesia, English and Tagalog (Philippines). A story about singer who gets life lessons from the children with special need. The singer was played brilliantly by famous Philippines singer, Christian Bautista.

The film was released in Indonesia, at September 29, 2011, while in Philippines was already released first at August 3, 2011. The story begins when Jayden (Christian Bautista), a musician, who is still struggled in the music industry, is trying to reach his goal to become a star. One night in Manila City, Philippines, had changed Jayden's life, becoming a broken man, with no money at all.

The funny thing is, he manages to fly to Jakarta, Indonesia to visit his mother, Marlina (Ira Wibowo), who had been separated. The meeting with Mrs. Rinjani (Ira Maya Sopha), the principal of school for children with special need, had made him becoming a new music teacher.

The video about the student's choir which uploaded on youtube, had made the school gets an invitation to go to Students Choir Competition. My favorite scene is when Jayden gets mad to his student's brother when he picked up him. Idiot! Get yourself into the car!, said his student's brother. Don't you ever said that again! Ever!, said Jayden angrily.

But the boy's parent is not happy with Jayden. They both then meet the principal, and ask Mrs. Rinjani to fired Jayden, or they will move their child to another school. That's not our way to yell to our child like the way you did, said the mother. Children! You have 2 children, and not just one. Your son has very amazing voice. You should see his performance! It's too bad to not let him sing at the competition. It'll break his heart, said Jayden.

So what then? Will Jayden leave the school or not? You should see this film! This film had made my eyes is like a broken glass, but not dropped into tears.

What is Emotion?

July 05, 2012

Psychology from the Standpoint of a Behaviorist

Have you been felt so.. so.. angry? I guess everybody does, but was it the right angry? Being the right angry is to be angry in the right time, right place, with the right person, using the right speech and keeping your voice tone. So that the person you are angry with, will not hate you, or even get mad. If you are a Boss, and your employee has done a mistake that gets you so angry, then you should be angry with his work, and not personally angry with him.

It's best for us to learn to control our anger! Feels angry and moody is controlled by our emotion. We should manage to control our emotional first. If not, stress will block our way to be angry, the right angry. That makes you get emotionally angry. So, What is emotion is all about?

Emotion, mental states, or processes accompanied by marked bodily reactions, which occur to anticipate, or to realize the satisfaction, or frustration of needs. In Latin, emotion originally meant an inner turbulence, as in a storm cloud, which discharged its forces outward.

The earliest writings about these feelings of pleasantness, or unpleasantness, probably are in the Sanskrit literature. The Vedas (3000-1500 BC) and the Upanishads (800-500 BC) contain descriptions of pleasure, pain and sexual enjoyment. Emotions were called passions by early Greek writers, such as Aristotle. Mentalistic philosophers of the 18th and 19th centuries were considered emotions to be mental experiences, and later became thing of the mind.

Theories of Emotion

Theory I :
Emotion is an indivisible mind-body reaction. Many authors disagree with the 1st theory.

Theory II :
Emotion is a mental event which depends upon other bodily events. Walter B. Cannon concluded that emotion resulted from the brain structures (the diencephalon, which includes the thalamus and hypothalamus). While for William James, emotion was a mental event dependant upon physiological event.

Theory III :
Emotion is a bodily event which may produce mental events. Carl G. Lange, a Danish physiologist, considered emotion was a bodily event which might, or might not produce mental events. But Knight Dunlap, US psychologist, claimed emotion as the dynamic background of all behavior

Behavior Patterns in Children

John B. Watson believed there were 3 primary emotions which are fear (elicited by loud noise or loss of support), anger (elicited by interference with activity), and lust/love (elicited by mild tactual stimulation of erogenous zones). He believed that all emotional life developed from these 3 behavior patterns.

Watson also describes 8 behavior patterns in infants that may be regarded as distinct emotional changes:

  1. Startle (fear), to sudden intense stimulation.
  2. Struggle (anger), to interference with movement.
  3. Muscular arrest-tumescence (sexual excitement), to sustained gentle stimulation of the skin.
  4. Exaggrerated withdrawal (pain), to sudden pain-producing stimuli.
  5. General activity (excitement), to susutained unpleasant internal sensations.
  6. Quiescence (pleasure of relief), to relief from unpleasant stimulation.
  7. Spitting-mouth aversion (disgust or revulsion), to unpleasant tastes.
  8. Exhaustion-whimpering (disappointment or grief), to persisting and unrelieved unpleasant stimulation.

If those above patterns of behavior are discrete in human infants, they would be relatively discrete in adults. Nina Bull has demonstrated differences in muscular attitude among some of these commonly accepted emotions, and many experimenters are attempting to determine precise differences in autonomic, and endocrine responses to stressful situations.
