The V for Value

September 04, 2013

The History

It has been a long time since my last post about internet, traffic, and backlink. In this post, I will share to you how I learn to be a webmaster with this blog. Back in 2011, this blog was made without using any PC. I laughed at myself when I read a comment that said Wow, I love this blog, amazing, and I did not publish the comment.

How then? I only used my 2009 Nokia E63, and a free internet handler from opera. But, since the new blogger interface, I cannot publish my post using operamini anymore. Due to, operamini blocked javascript from the new blogger interface. Why I choose blogger? I chose blogger, because for me, it was easier than wordpress.

How can I write my post then? I just wrote my post as usual, using Quickoffice from my Nokia E63, and saved the post in my gmail unsent draft. Went to nearest internet rental kiosk, and published the post with a PC. Having an IT background, I found no problem on HTML, but I learnt a lot from W3school.

Last Easter, I had donated IDR 250,000 ($25), the first income that I received from this blog, to a Catholic orphanage. I hope I can do it again every Easter. I had proved to myself that make money online is really not a myth.

What is V for Value?

My name is Verdi, and I hope that my blog posts could give value to visitors who read my post. So, V is not just stand for Verdi, but also for Value. But, back in 2011, this blog title was first named as DV Store | Online Store. In early 2012, I changed the name to V for Value to provide more informations with wide niche, such as, health, life, alternate medicine, healthy life, health tips, therapy, cancer, diabetes, diarrhea, diet, internet, traffic, backlink, history, mental health, and motivation.

I had deleted over a hundred of my posts, in which most of them contained about products that I sold using my affiliate links, from several advertising companies. I started with only about 50 posts of my original post, when I first build V for Value, in early 2012. Amazingly, in June 2012, my blog's Google pagerank (PR) was raised to PR5.

Here what I can share to you, when you start to make your own blog. I hope you can learn from my personal experience about the SEO tricks.

The On/Off Page SEO

Having many backlinks will make a site for visible to the search engines. A link aging is also important. Your outbond links from high PR sites, that have been already indexed by the search engines, will make your site more visible. This is called off page SEO. Off page factors include, PR and outbond links.

But, you should keep in mind, that by having a high PR site, is unlikely you will have high traffic. Having a high PR will make your site more visible in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs), although it is also unlikely either. A PR3 site might also on #1 SERPs, but the PR5 site on #2. It all because the search engine algorithms.

One thing that I had learnt as webmaster, your inbond links (anchor links) to any pages, or articles within your sites, and not just to your home page, will tell the search engines to crawl the page, or the article, as a relevance source. This is called on page SEO. Moreover, the on page factors include:

  • Keyword Frequency
Keyword frequency inside your contents are the one that makes your content is the king. But, by repeating keywords in each paragraph will annoy the readers. The best site that I knew using the right keyword frequency in its contents, but still ranks high in SERPs, is wikipedia.
  • Meta Tags
Although many webmasters have ignored the use of meta tag, due to the search engines are now focused on keywords inside the contents, but having the right keywords in the meta tags is still important.
  • Headings
Title headings are those which will make your readers curious about your articles. Just like when you read a newspaper. See what is in the headline? What if the headline used small caps, or even smaller than the news? It will look awful.
  • Inbond Links
It is best that you used your keywords as the anchor text for the links, which lead to the other pages inside your site.
  • Site Structure
The site structure, the overall layout of a site, will be the first eye catch for your first unique visitor from the search engine. If the visitor did not find that what he seek, he will look to what he might benefit from your site. If he left your site less than a minute, it means that you will have a high bounce rate. High bounce rate means that your content is suck, your site is not sticky enough, and the site structure needs a change.

What if I Exchange Link?

  1. Some tricky webmasters will remove your link shortly, a month or two, after you completed the exchange.
  2. Your link is placed in an orphan page, in which inaccessible via home page, or any pages.
  3. Your link is buried within ten clicks deep, or the link text is using the same color, as the page's background color, to make it invisible.
  4. Do you familiar with this quote? You link to me first and I will link back to you! Don't bother yourself! They will never link back to you.
  5. Your link is placed in a page which full of outbond links. Search engines will consider the page as a link farm, and penalized the site. A link from a penalized site, will also hurt your site.
  6. Your link partners sabotage your link by adding meta tag to it, or placed your link inside a noframes tag to make it invisible.
  7. Your link partners use a referral link before sending it to you.
  8. Your link partners use a fake link using CSS styles.
  9. You don't get any benefits, if your link partners frames the link bearing page within a high rank site.
  10. You submit your link to a free web directories, but later, you find that the link is not free, and there is a hidden cost.

So, do I accept for exchanging links? No, I don't.

From where did I get my first dollar via online?

I got my first $25 online by accepting a sponsored post by an advertising company ($10), and a guy that emailed me to ask for a sponsored post ($15). I received the money via paypal. Although $25 is considered to be a small amount of money, but it will be worth a lot for orphan children.

I am not going to tell you about the advertising company that I used, because you will find lots of lists out there, just by Google it. After all, I blog is to ignore my boring full time job. Moreover, being an infopreneur, by sharing an information, is the easiest making money online strategy. Just find your niche, and start making money online!

Having backlinks from .edu sites are treasures for webmasters. But, spammer webmasters had caused troubles to the .edu sites admin. Due to spam comments, many .edu blogs had closed their blogs account, or changed the URL address.

To minimize spam comments, several .edu blogs have turned off the comment form. Some .edu blog also can only be commented by registered users, such as students, teachers, and staff.

The new .edu blogs list below is the second chapter of my previous post List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks. The .edu blogs in the list below are different from the previous list.

Most .edu blogs will only give you nofollow backlinks. But, having many nofollow backlinks will not harm to your sites. It would be considered as natural link building. Having many .edu backlinks will get your sites more visible, gain more trust and reputation from the search engines.

Just remember one thing! Do not spam! Place your site URL only on the available form, and do not use an anchor text of your URL on your comments! Also, use your real name and not keywords of your products or anything else!

Search engine optimization (SEO) method by blog commenting on .edu and .gov sites is still the best way to get free backlinks from high pagerank and authority sites. But, SEO is also just an opinion. No one ever knew that more backlinks from high pagerank and authority sites, will get your sites on top of search engine result pages (SERPs) for your keywords.

I once saw a new born blog with only one post, which was able to be on page 1 Google result for certain queries that I typed. How come? The Google search algorithms was responsed to the only indexed post of the new born blog from its post title.

Blog title, page title and post title are all important for your sites, or blog posts to be on page 1 SERPs. And again, SEO is an opinion, if you believe that having many backlinks from .edu and .gov sites, will drive traffic to your sites by being on page 1 SERPs for your target keywords, you better check above .edu blogs! But, please! Do not spam!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Backlink From Alexa.com

January 25, 2013

Alexa logo

I was amazed when I checked my backlinks on Google Webmaster tools. This blog has a backlink from Alexa.com.

When I searched on Google.com using queries Backlink From Alexa.com, I could not find any info about it on the page 1. Infact, I found one of my post which is titled How To Find Quality Dofollow Backlink As Many As You Can, was on #5 on the page 1 Google result.

Driving with curiosity, I then checked the pagerank of Alexa.com using CheckPagerank.net. I found that Alexa.com has PR8 with Alexa Rank 1,389. The site is listed in DMOZ.org, Google Directory, and Yahoo! Directory. The domain age by the time I checked on January 24, 2013, is 16 years 6 months 7 days, according to Whois created on July 7, 1996.

Alexa.com is an Amazon.com company, the leading provider of free, global web metrics. Based on Alexa.com Site Info on Alexa.com, on the same day I checked, from its Alexa Traffic Rank, it has 1,389 in Global Rank and 1,281 Rank in US. While the site reputation is 365,207 sites linking in.

From its certified site metrics, it has 352,809 daily unique visitors, 1,359,557 daily pageviews, 7,700,796 monthly unique visitors and 37,859,231 monthly pageviews.

The data of unique visitors on Alexa.com has shown that there are more than 350 K new webmasters who visited Alexa website everyday. How do I know that the Alexa website visitors is a new webmaster? It's just my own opinion, they could also be advertisers who want to advertise on Alexa. But, If someone is searching for some products or goods, they would go to Amazon.com instead of Alexa.com.

How to Gain Trust and Authority from The Search Engines

December 18, 2012

The Trust

Trust, a measure of how well a search engine trust a website to provide accurate and reliable information, from its content or outbond links.

How do search engines measure trust? No one really has the perfect answer about what kind of algorithms that are used by the search engines. The search engine's algorithms are just like our point of view about something.

For example, when I saw a painting of a naked Balinese woman, I would say the painting was just an art, while other would say pornography.

Some factors which can gain trust from the search engines are:

  • Backlinks from high authority, or high pagerank sites, such as .gov sites, .edu sites and forum sites.
  • Backlinks from popular sites, or social media sites, such as facebook, twitter, and etc.
  • Link ageing, the age of your backlinks. The faster you get your power links will determine your site's trust.
  • Link popularity, the quality and quantity of your backlinks. The more quality backlinks you have, the more trust your site will gain from the search engines. Having many backlinks will also gain more trust.
  • Link building behaviors. Stay as natural as you can, when it comes to link building. Having links from the same niche sites or not, you should not worry, whether they are dofollow or nofollow links.

The most important thing is that search engines use time based indicators and link quality to establish trust in a site. So, trust can help boost your search engine rankings.

The Authority

Authority, a site's reputation within a niche. Search engines use authority to rank a site only on one topic, a niche.

Here in my blog, as you can see on my right sidebar, the My Value Articles, I use not only a niche in my blog. Based on this blog site info on Alexa, the search engines had ranked my blog well for popular posts, such as How to Get Free Backlink from PR9 Site and List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks.

The following are some factors which can gain authority from the search engines:

  • The quality backlinks from the same niche sites. You should have more quality backlinks within the same niche.
  • Relevant anchor links from different niche sites. Though you have backlinks from different niche sites, just make sure you use the relevant anchor link text.
  • Link Popularity.

The combination between trust and authority will make a domain is having easily rank for several search queries within its niche. It might also have low rank for the queries outside its niche. Having low rank from outside the niche is better than no rank at all.

Wikipedia is one of the wide niche site which had gained trust and authority from the search engines. A new page on Wikipedia can rank well in the search engines.

Submit your site to the search engine will not make your site faster to be indexed. The search engines will eventually find and index your site. First thing you have to do, if you have a new site, is by starting the natural link building.

9 High Page Rank .Gov Blogs

October 19, 2012

Having backlinks from .gov blogs are really hard to get for most webmasters. So far, this blog was only got one .gov backlink. The luckiest thing is, even though the backlink is marked with nofollow attribute, it is one of .gov blogs I've listed below, which has PR9.

Why is hard to get backlink from .gov blogs?

Many .gov blogs are not accepting comments. Although some .gov blogs accept comments from visitors, but there is no place for you to put your website URL, in the comment form.

Even for some .gov blogs do accept comments, all comments should have been moderated, and the post itself might really hard to be commented. You cannot only comment with only say Thanks for the information, or Thanks for sharing this post. Your comment will end in a spam junk.

If you keep repeating this kind of activity, using the same comments on every posts, and then your IP address might have been banned by the site's server. Keep your comments as natural as you can without using any anchor link text!

Below are 9 high PR .gov blogs which I sort them from the highest PR:

PR9

SBA.gov Community, or Small Business Administration Community. The best place for small business owners to connect with, sharing, and getting advices from the expert on starting, growing and managing their business. Join the community and grow your business!

PR7

blog.AIDS.gov, a blog which was first launched at World AIDS Day on December 1, 2006. The blog provides informations by the U.S. Government about prevention, testing, treatment, and research on HIV/AIDS. It serves as a forum for public discussion in response to HIV/AIDS researchs and policies.

SAMHSA Blog, or Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Blog. The blog provides venue to discuss what SAMHSA is up to, share ideas with others around the health care world. The SAMHSA blog will give you an opportunity to give real time feedback and have your voice heard.

Corrections Community, a community of National Institute of Corrections. The place where corrections professionals can interact and colaborate.

PR6

AZ Dept. of Health Services Director's Blog, a blog by the Director of Arizona Dept. of Health Services. Its mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health and wellness of individuals, children or adults, and communities in Arizona.

Health IT Buzz Blog, a blog by HHS's Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

DigitalGov, a blog for anyone in government who uses digital media to achieve their agency mission and improve the customer experience. Also a blog for conversation, learning, and sharing.

From Our Corner, a blog by the Washington Office of the Secretary of State, which provides all informations about important state news and public services. The blog is used as a bridge between the public and Secretary Sam Reed and his staff.

PR5

Delaware Public Archives Blog, a blog in which its mission is to identify, collect, and preserve public records of enduring historical and evidential value, for present and future generations of Delawareans.

Please do not spam on above .gov blogs! Those blogs have comment policies that you should follow when you are going to give feedbacks.

Nofollow Backlink, Natural Link Building

September 27, 2012

Nofollow Link

What is Nofollow Backlink?

Blog commenting is the best way for link building. Although sometimes, blog commenting is called as blog spamming, if the comment only said Nice post, thanks., and embedded with anchor text of Buy 1 Get 1 Free Viagra below it.

In 2005, nofollow, a HTML attribute value that tells search engines to not follow the links, was assigned by Google in order to minimize blog spamming comments. Though, it definitely would not affect on stopping spamming behavior.

From its name definition, nofollow doesn't mean don't follow this link, more correctly it means don't add weight from this link. So, this rel="nofollow" attribute might still followed and indexed by some search engines including Google.

If it's true that nofollow attribute will order the search engines to not follow the links, then why the links were appeared in your Google Webmaster tools, and counted as your backlinks?

Nofollow Profile Backlinks

Have you added your links on the profile pages of high PR sites such as yahoo, facebook, twitter, youtube, flickr, etc?

Backlinks from those sites are worth a lot. Even though your links were on the PR0, or even PR N/A pages of the sites, but having backlinks from very strong sites are carried more weight than links from lower sites.

In other words, links from interior PR0 pages of PR9 sites, are better than links from interior PR0 pages of PR0 sites

Although links which are marked with nofollow won't contribute to your sites PR, you might still gain traffic from the sites. Moreover, links which are placed in viewable public profiles on High PR sites, are considered as Google Juice by many SEO experts.

Site Reputation

If your sites backlinks are only dofollow backlinks, your sites will look suspicious to Google and others search engines. As most webmasters had already known that nofollow backlinks have no SEO weight, but that was truly questionable to me.

Having many backlinks whether they are nofollow or dofollow will build your sites trustworthy and reputation. The more reputation your sites have, the more traffic will drive to your sites.

Many inbound links can help improve your rank in search engines, and can serve as a measure of a site's reputation.

Alexa Website.

Based on the statement at Alexa website above, it will look suspicious if your sites have less backlinks, whether they are dofollow or nofollow, but your Alexa traffic rank was high.

Top Sites Are Also Doing Blog Spamming

I once studied 2 sites that spamming the comments on my top blog post. Both of sites were high on Alexa rank, and already had the PR9 backlink that I described on my post. They both only promoted their own sites using anchor links.

The 1st site, let's say site A, was PR2 with Alexa rank below 100K. Site A has more than 800 inbound links. 30% of Top 100 Alexa sites linking to site A, were from edu sites, which are marked with nofollow.

The sad news was, last time I checked the site, since last May, site A admin has offered his full site for sale at $70 bid in a forum post.

The other site, site B, was PR4 with Alexa rank below 120K. Site B has more than 750 inbound links. More than 50% of Top 100 Alexa sites linking to site B, were from search engines (mostly Google), which are also marked with nofollow.

I was amazed the 1st time I saw site B inbound links. Site B was getting backlinks from major search engines, such as, google.co.in, google.com.hk, google.com.tr, bing.com, google.com.vn, google.fr, google.it, google.co.id, isearch.babylon.com, isearch.avg.com, search.mywebsearch.com, and many more, for various search queries. Alexa even counted backlinks from facebook.com and t.co (URL short from twitter.com), based on Top 20 Alexa sites linking to site B.

From certain pages on yahoo, facebook and twitter, your links might gain dofollow backlinks.

You see now.. Even the big guys (big sites) were still doing blog spamming.

Natural Link Building

Link building is not instant. I guess all instant matters will not good for us, because it will not last long. And also, instant foods are junk.

Be open minded webmasters! You should not worry about all of your sites backlinks. Whether they are dofollow or nofollow backlinks, having many inbound links will improve your sites visibility and reputation.

Write your best contents at least for your own sake, not for your readers, or even for search engines. If you love and happy with what you've written, it definitely will appear inside your post. Your readers will surely appreciate your effort, and so do the search engines.

Stop doing blog spamming! Repeating the same comments, if your 1st post on a site or blog is not published by the admin. The 2nd, 3rd, and all of your comment posts will end up in the spam junk.

9 Free High Quality Page Rank Backlinks

August 28, 2012

A site with high Page Rank (PR) doesn't mean that the site will be high in search ranking, or search engine result pages (SERPs). SEO methods such as, posts in forums, comments on other blogs, and link promoting on social media, will increase the site's ranking on a specific keyword's SERPs.

For a new site, having many backlinks will increase the site's visibility on search engine. Moreover, if the site's backlinks are from and to high quality related sites, it will impact on the site's PR. The more high a site's PR, the more often Googlebot crawled it, and indexed its pages.

You can check how many pages that Google had indexed your sites by googling it. For instance: site:verdilaurent.blogspot.com, or inurl:verdilaurent.blogspot.com. Change verdilaurent.blogspot.com with your sites URL.

List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks

August 21, 2012

checklist

When you are commenting on a blog, and placing links of your URL site, it can give dofollow link to the your sites. However, most blogs are now marked with nofollow tag, which is useless in search engines. But I disagree with that statement. Although from the post that you've already commented on, your site was not getting indexed by the search engine, Google still counted the blogs domain as your backlinks. You can see it in your Google Webmaster tools, links to your site pages.

Also it's still managed to drive traffic to your site. Your blog comment will get clicked on by the blog's admin and the readers of the blog, only if your comments are, interesting, giving curiosity to know who has wrote the comment, controversy with the blog post's point of view, or related to the discussion of the other commenters who also posted on the blog.

Although .edu and .gov sites don't improve your site PR automatically, having backlinks from them were believed by many SEO experts as the Google juice links, and might improve your site visibility in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs), due to .edu and .gov sites are having high and trusted rank.

On the list below, .edu and .ac blogs are just the same thing. I try to sort them in alphabetical order. Some blogs were auto approved enable, or without comment moderation.

How To Find Quality Dofollow Backlink As Many As You Can

July 20, 2012

Backlinks can help improve your website rank in search engines result pages, and the more sites are linking to yours, your site's reputation will also increasing. Most webmasters are in quest to find as many as possible dofollow backlink for their site, especially from the high quality, or high PR sites. For most webmasters, dofollow backlink is worth a lot than nofollow backlink.

But I'm disagree with that, in my own perception, your nofollow backlinks are worth as your dofollow backlinks. Just like nofollow backlinks that you've got, by placing your website URL on social media profiles, such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr, and etc. Though it's possible get dofollow backlinks from those social media, if you can manage to gain lots of traffic from them (as referring site).

The difference is that your nofollow backlinks may not all appear on your Alexa's Sites Linking to your site pages.

But, all of them are appeared on your Google Webmaster Tools Links to Your Site pages. Alexa counts all your backlinks, eventhough the links (the pages) have been removed from the sites, or the sites were no longer exist (dead links), but Google doesn't.

Compared to Alexa, Google counts the links that still alive or exist, and didn't describe the pages URL that linked to your site like Alexa did, only number of links and linked pages. Google counts only domain name, for example, blogspot and wordpress blogs are only counted by its domain name.

I once wrote about the strange of backlinks on Alexa. In my previous post Backlink from Your Own Blog, I described that you can get dofollow backlink from your blogs. So far, I only got 1 backlink from my blog, but I saw another blogger's blog got 5 multiple backlinks from his own blog URL.

But wait..!

Have you add your site to Google Webmaster and claim your site on Alexa? You must have done it first, in order that Google and Alexa are paying more intention to your site. The higher your website PR, the more frequently Googlebot and Alexa crawl your site.

I assume that you probably had already Googling for search term dofollow blog, list of dofollow blog, edu and gov wordpress blog, or high PR commentluv blog, etc.

For example, hancur.it with its post title List of High PR .edu Dofollow Blogs 2012, is on page one from your Googling result.

Then you visit hancur.it, read the post for about 2 minutes. You are curious with the list, in which probably more than 10 links. And then you start to click one by one of the links, or copy paste one by one to a new tab, to visit all links.

Let's say, it takes a minute to load each link. What was your result? Did you satisfy with the result? I assume that you just spent about 12 minutes of worthless pageview visit to hancur.it. I guess that most of the links on the list are probably dead. You have forgotten the main point here.

Have you ever wonder whether if hancur.it had visited all those links, or already got backlinks from one of them? I bet that hancur.it's webmaster never actually try to click all links on its list, he just only gatherred the lists (copy paste) from others.

So, what's the point then?

Let me ask you! Who was the one who counted your dofollow backlink? If you read my post carefully, you'll know the answer right away....

...mmm.. Yap, Alexa. Alexa is the dofollow backlinks source. That's why, there're no sites got backlink from Alexa.com, whether is nofollow or dofollow, even Google.com (the #1 Alexa rank).

Go to Alexa website! Search for your site's niche! For example: you type blogging, and then the top result with most traffic and rank is ngemengepeh.co.uk. Click on it! You will go to ngemengepeh.co.uk's site info. Have a look on the site reputation! How many does ngemengepeh.co.uk's sites linking in? Let's say it has 14,256 sites linking in.

Click on the number! You will go to sites linking to ngemengepeh.co.uk (page1). There you go! You have seen the top 100 (5 pages) dofollow sites lists of ngemengepeh.co.uk. Now, all you have to do is eliminate the list one by one! If on the top 20 (page 1) are only backlink from high PR sites such as Google.com, Yahoo.com, Twitter.com, Bing.com, and Youtube.com, it will be hard for you to get those backlinks.

Now, move on to the top 40 (page 2)! Look for the site that contain pages or dates. For example you see on the number 21 is:

wewegombel.ac.in
wewegombel.ac.in/it/blogging/2012/07/best_list.html

There are 3 possibilities lay within the link. ngemengepeh.co.uk may get doffolow backlink directly from the post article, by commenting, or the page was no longer exist (dead links). And still, it's worth to check it out, to add value to yourself, better than following the lists from webmasters who haven't got backlinks from the lists, just like hancur.it did.

But.. There is always but..

Your 1st visit to best_list.html page for instance, from copy paste the link, will be consider as a spam visit. Why? Because your referring site was unknown. You must at least bookmarks the site to visit again, or visit from search engine by Googling for wewegombel.ac.in.

Ups.. I've forgot to describe about the main point, the more easiest way. Back to the googling result example above! The top result from the example above was hancur.it. Check the Alexa's sites linking to hancur.it! Now, you will know whether hancur.it's webmaster has been made a fool of you or not.

Backlink From Your Own Blog

May 03, 2012

Link building is a main based of SEO technique to drive traffic to your site. You might able to do so, is by providing a quality and useful content for your readers. Write on subject that you desire and love most, though it must be connected to your site niche.

Having a specific niche domain will get you advantages on specific targeted visitors, though it will also get you into trouble, due to lack of inspiration to write on a new blog post. My main blog niche is on alternate medicine, but my blog description is about tips (on everything) to gain better life. So, in this case, I have a wide niche to write about.

Based on Alexa website, many inbound links can help improve your rank in search engines, and can serve as a measure of a site's reputation. I was laugh at myself when I saw my blog's Alexa site linking in. A new backlink that I got is from verdilaurent.blogspot.in. When I tried to click on it, it directed me to my own blog. How could that be possible? I still didn't know why Alexa give my own blog as a dofollow backlink. If you have something like this, please share your thought!

Perhaps you can try this:
Check your blog URL with no .com/ at the end of your blog URL. Try using .in, .br, or .co.uk.

For example :
Your blog URL is http://yourblogspoturl.blogspot.com, and try to change with
https://yourblogspoturl.blogspot.br, or
https://yourblogspoturl.blogspot.co.uk, or
https://yourblogspoturl.blogspot.in.

Now, you can see where is the URL you had typed leads to!

How to Get Free Backlink from PR9 Site

March 29, 2012

Blogger logo

If you are a webmaster, you would have known this, The more sites that are linking to your site, the more traffic you will get. That is truly a fact, there are no webmasters would doubt it. Many webmasters are trying hard to keep their Alexa rank as lower as they could.

Though even I could not understand what are alexa based for ranking the sites. On alexa website, it only said that, many inbound links can help improve your rank in search engines, and can serve as a measure of a site's reputation.

You would also probably saw an advertising about buying link from PR9 sites. Infact you wouldn't have to spent a dime to get backlink from a PR9 site based on my experience in this blog.

Yeah!! The site is blogger.com, a PR9 site with alexa rank 89 (last time I checked). How did I get that PR9 backlink for free? If you already have Google account, whether you have blog or not, you must have a blogger profile. Fill your blogger profile with your site!

And then, if you have already blogger profile with your site on it, you must have been wondering, why my site didn't get a backlink from blogger.com?

Actually, there are 2 ways to get a backlink from blogger.com. The main thing is, you must comment to other sites, especially blogger blogspot sites, using your Google account.

The second is, your comment must be unique, so that it can drive the other visitors of the site who also read the post, to view on your blogger profile.

The more people viewed on your profile, and visited the site on your blogger profile, the faster you get the PR9 backlink from blogger.com.

The truth is, by commenting to other blogs or sites, it will drive traffic to your site, at least an exchange visit from the site owner. Moreover, if you follow others blog using Google Friend Connect, that other blog will also get another backlink from blogger.com.

You should not have to place your site link, using html text, with an anchor text, for an intention to get dofollow backlink from the site. It would be considered as a spam comment, and the site owner would not publish your comment.

Internet Without Search Engine

March 19, 2012

How would it be if internet without search engine?

The 1st time when I was shaking hand with connections called internet, was on the year of 1999, it's when Y2K was the biggest thread on every PCs around the world. Back then, Google's search engine was not so popular as now, the #1 search engine that is now used by all internet users. In the past, I used to rely on my search using Yahoo's search engine, which @yahoo.com was became my second accounts that I used for an email account.

My first email account that I used was from @usa.net, which now is no longer hosted for free email account. Much news I got from Yahoo news, back then. I never got used to on using search engine to get what I needed to read. I always relied on my books, which my grandmother gave me in 1999, after I insisted on asking for it. 21 books of Encyclopedia International, copyright © 1975 by Grolier Incorporated. My very precious legacies from my late grandfather, who had passed away in 1996. None all of my aunt and uncle were managed to read it. That books were just became a shelf decoration, and always me, the one that used to read it, everytime I visited my grandfather's house.

Ok! Back to topic! I had read on many SEO advices about using the right keywords for your site. The best way to attract search engine attention to crawl to your site. How about if there's no search engine like Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc.? You named it! What's your strategy to drive traffic to your site then?

I recently found a site on the internet that haven't used search engine on it, for an intention that search engine won't crawl the site. The text in the bottom of the site said that. So, how do people including me are managed on finding their sites? I was carried to that site after I used Google on my search, then I landed to a site, I was arrived to that 'uncrawled by search engine' site after I clicked to that site's link that attrached me to visit. It's strange for me to see a site that never want to be index by search engine.

My own conclusion is, that the site was never meant to be easily to find by everyone, although that site got higher Alexa rank for traffic. Last time I checked, it's ranked by Alexa below 2,700 with more than 5,000 sites linking in, PR 5 with Google backlink, and also Alexa top 500 sites rank in Indonesia. Now, I know why the site didn't want search engine to index the site, cause it was already indexed. I wouldn't say that site's name here.

Based on my last post Another Way To Boost Your SEO Rankings, your web design might attrached your visitors to revisit your site, besides all your site contents and keywords to be crawled by the search engine. Some people I found in such forum said, that a web design with dark (black) background color with white, or orange text, like mine here, was really hurting their eyes. I laughed at myself to read that, and not hesitated on commenting to their thread.

You know why I choosed black and white for my blog? Orange is an optional color for a link text in my blog. Black and white is my favorite colors, it also means a lot for everything in all of our lifes. The good and the bad, better or worst, happy and sad, angels and demons, etc. If you ever went to Bali Island or asking to an Hindustani people about the meaning of blank and white colors, you'll know what I mean!

Web Counter with Traffic and Backlink

January 25, 2012

Looking for a web counter or hit counter for your wesite, is the first thing we usually do after we create a website. There are many service providers of web counter on the internet. Sometimes we wonder, where does our visitors come from? Although blogger are already had statistic page that show it, but we usually unsatisfied with the stat result. There is only one web counter I knew, that can drive traffic and also give a backlink to your website.

Get your own flagcounter!

A web counter that I love most is flagcounter from boardhost. I'm become the one from millions of fanatical fans of flagcounter. You can see here in my blog, there are 5 types of flagcounter from boardhost.

As an Indonesian, I should be proud because Indonesia becomes the fourth country that frequently access flagcounter site. This is seen from the flagcounter.com master counter here.

You can collect 51 regional flags from United States and 13 flags from Canada using free flagcounter. If you upgrade to become Pro user, you will have the ability to collect regional flags from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, and many more. For example, 33 regional flags from 33 provinces of Indonesia.

In addition, Pro users can make their flagcounter become private and can't be seen by their visitors. Pro users can also eliminate the flagcounter logo.

Flagcounter is only a simple image of html without having a javascript. It can be place everywhere on the site that support image. But on Facebook page or profile as far as I know, you can't place a flagcounter.

By avoiding too many widgets with javascript, will get your site index by Google bots faster. It will have resulting on the SERPs. That's the basic SEO that I've learnt.

One way to get more visitors or traffic to your website as well get a backlink from boardhost.com is by joining in the flagcounter forum here. By placing your website URL on your signature, it will give backlink to your website.

You can ask for other flagcounter forum members to visit your website, by posting with title 'Need a flag' for example, on flag requests section. But you must remember! You should also visit their website in return!!

Another Way To Boost Your SEO Rankings

January 15, 2012

A bad post is worst than no post at all

Did you ever heard the sentence above before? I'm 50% agree with that idea. You know why? Your blog content might be become the king, and then your blog design appearance should be the queen. If no post is better than a bad post or just a huge image on a blog, then why do you make a blog? Blog at first time was a kind of digital diary. People were posting to their blog to express their thought, mind, and share their expertise, and experience. No matter if there any readers that visit their blogs.

Back to the topic. If blog appearance is the queen, a way to beautify your blog is by creating slideshows. A beautiful and functional slideshow to improve your website performance, you should try SlideDeck.

Knowing Your Site Rank

November 19, 2011

Having a site but doesn't have any visitors? What then??

Submit your site to the search engine! 1st of all check your site rank at alexa.com. Just type your URL there, then you'll see the result of your global rank. How many sites that are linking to your site? The best keywords based on your site contents. Also percentages of keywords that used on search engine recently. By linking your site to Alexa site will increase your site rank.

Download the Alexa toolbar for free to have best rank on search engine, also you can monitor your site page rank. Having Alexa Site Audit will give your site better rank. Alexa will crawl and analyze your website to give you an in depth view of your site's visibility to search engines. Provide insights into the optimization, monetization and overall health of your site.

But.... Wait a minute..

Sometimes SEOs and site owners encounter some problems. Their sites were suddenly going down in the search engine results pages, for no particular reason. It's hard to figure out why your rank dived to the last pages. Let's consider possible reasons and solutions to the problem.

  • Got penalized or banned by Google
As stated in Google Webmaster Guidelines, one must not participate in link schemes. Buying/ selling links, create doorway pages, or use hidden text. These are considered illegitimate SEO practices and may bring Google's wrath.

If your site gets penalized, find out what might have caused this. Read Google's Webmaster Guidelines and remove whatever is in violation from your site.

  • Search engine algorithm has changed
Search engines are trying to keep their search results as relevant and SPAM free as possible. By increasing number of websites on the Internet today, search engines are forced to tweak their search algos to keep spammers at bay. Google's algorithm Panda was intended to do away with sites that provide poor quality content.

It also affected groups of sites that have significant duplicate content by nature, such as e-commerce sites, online directories, etc. First of all, if you are doing SEO and you really mean it, you should be informed about what's new in the Search Engine.

  • Your website's content got stolen or got banned for copyright infringement
If your rank suddenly dropped, that could be because someone has stolen the content from your site and posted it somewhere else on the Web. Search engines sometimes lower both sites's ranks. Eventually, they are likely to start ranking your site as high as they used to before the incident. Once they realize who copied whose content. This may take some time.

Banned for copyright infringement that is your site used somebody else's content to boost your site's rank. The owner of the content may have filed a DMCA request or reported your site to Google for copyright infringement. Then you should remove the duplicate content.

  • Competitors beat you in the SERPs
Your rank may go down just because a competing site manages to boost their rankings to a substantial degree. If this is the case, analyze competitor's site and see in what way they are better than yours. Pay attention to their backlinks, keyword density, social media popularity and act.

  • Your site backlinks have been removed
Due to backlinks with top Google positions pointing to your site's being removed, resulting your site rank drop. Check the backlinks pointing to your site. If this happens, you should get these links back or get similar backlinks from other websites.

Sometimes unexpected things happen. Google removed 11 million domains from its index, all on one day. Hope that will not happen to your site.
