List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks (2)

February 14, 2013

checklist

Having backlinks from .edu sites are treasures for webmasters. But, spammer webmasters had caused troubles to the .edu sites admin. Due to spam comments, many .edu blogs had closed their blogs account, or changed the URL address.

To minimize spam comments, several .edu blogs have turned off the comment form. Some .edu blog also can only be commented by registered users, such as students, teachers, and staff.

The new .edu blogs list below is the second chapter of my previous post List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks. The .edu blogs in the list below are different from the previous list.

Most .edu blogs will only give you nofollow backlinks. But, having many nofollow backlinks will not harm to your sites. It would be considered as natural link building. Having many .edu backlinks will get your sites more visible, gain more trust and reputation from the search engines.

Just remember one thing! Do not spam! Place your site URL only on the available form, and do not use an anchor text of your URL on your comments! Also, use your real name and not keywords of your products or anything else!

Search engine optimization (SEO) method by blog commenting on .edu and .gov sites is still the best way to get free backlinks from high pagerank and authority sites. But, SEO is also just an opinion. No one ever knew that more backlinks from high pagerank and authority sites, will get your sites on top of search engine result pages (SERPs) for your keywords.

I once saw a new born blog with only one post, which was able to be on page 1 Google result for certain queries that I typed. How come? The Google search algorithms was responsed to the only indexed post of the new born blog from its post title.

Blog title, page title and post title are all important for your sites, or blog posts to be on page 1 SERPs. And again, SEO is an opinion, if you believe that having many backlinks from .edu and .gov sites, will drive traffic to your sites by being on page 1 SERPs for your target keywords, you better check above .edu blogs! But, please! Do not spam!

Happy Valentine's Day!

How to Gain Trust and Authority from The Search Engines

December 18, 2012

The Trust

Trust, a measure of how well a search engine trust a website to provide accurate and reliable information, from its content or outbond links.

How do search engines measure trust? No one really has the perfect answer about what kind of algorithms that are used by the search engines. The search engine's algorithms are just like our point of view about something.

For example, when I saw a painting of a naked Balinese woman, I would say the painting was just an art, while other would say pornography.

Some factors which can gain trust from the search engines are:

  • Backlinks from high authority, or high pagerank sites, such as .gov sites, .edu sites and forum sites.
  • Backlinks from popular sites, or social media sites, such as facebook, twitter, and etc.
  • Link ageing, the age of your backlinks. The faster you get your power links will determine your site's trust.
  • Link popularity, the quality and quantity of your backlinks. The more quality backlinks you have, the more trust your site will gain from the search engines. Having many backlinks will also gain more trust.
  • Link building behaviors. Stay as natural as you can, when it comes to link building. Having links from the same niche sites or not, you should not worry, whether they are dofollow or nofollow links.

The most important thing is that search engines use time based indicators and link quality to establish trust in a site. So, trust can help boost your search engine rankings.

The Authority

Authority, a site's reputation within a niche. Search engines use authority to rank a site only on one topic, a niche.

Here in my blog, as you can see on my right sidebar, the My Value Articles, I use not only a niche in my blog. Based on this blog site info on Alexa, the search engines had ranked my blog well for popular posts, such as How to Get Free Backlink from PR9 Site and List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks.

The following are some factors which can gain authority from the search engines:

  • The quality backlinks from the same niche sites. You should have more quality backlinks within the same niche.
  • Relevant anchor links from different niche sites. Though you have backlinks from different niche sites, just make sure you use the relevant anchor link text.
  • Link Popularity.

The combination between trust and authority will make a domain is having easily rank for several search queries within its niche. It might also have low rank for the queries outside its niche. Having low rank from outside the niche is better than no rank at all.

Wikipedia is one of the wide niche site which had gained trust and authority from the search engines. A new page on Wikipedia can rank well in the search engines.

Submit your site to the search engine will not make your site faster to be indexed. The search engines will eventually find and index your site. First thing you have to do, if you have a new site, is by starting the natural link building.

9 High Page Rank .Gov Blogs

October 19, 2012

Having backlinks from .gov blogs are really hard to get for most webmasters. So far, this blog was only got one .gov backlink. The luckiest thing is, even though the backlink is marked with nofollow attribute, it is one of .gov blogs I've listed below, which has PR9.

Why is hard to get backlink from .gov blogs?

Many .gov blogs are not accepting comments. Although some .gov blogs accept comments from visitors, but there is no place for you to put your website URL, in the comment form.

Even for some .gov blogs do accept comments, all comments should have been moderated, and the post itself might really hard to be commented. You cannot only comment with only say Thanks for the information, or Thanks for sharing this post. Your comment will end in a spam junk.

If you keep repeating this kind of activity, using the same comments on every posts, and then your IP address might have been banned by the site's server. Keep your comments as natural as you can without using any anchor link text!

Below are 9 high PR .gov blogs which I sort them from the highest PR:

PR9

SBA.gov Community, or Small Business Administration Community. The best place for small business owners to connect with, sharing, and getting advices from the expert on starting, growing and managing their business. Join the community and grow your business!

PR7

blog.AIDS.gov, a blog which was first launched at World AIDS Day on December 1, 2006. The blog provides informations by the U.S. Government about prevention, testing, treatment, and research on HIV/AIDS. It serves as a forum for public discussion in response to HIV/AIDS researchs and policies.

SAMHSA Blog, or Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Blog. The blog provides venue to discuss what SAMHSA is up to, share ideas with others around the health care world. The SAMHSA blog will give you an opportunity to give real time feedback and have your voice heard.

Corrections Community, a community of National Institute of Corrections. The place where corrections professionals can interact and colaborate.

PR6

AZ Dept. of Health Services Director's Blog, a blog by the Director of Arizona Dept. of Health Services. Its mission is to promote, protect, and improve the health and wellness of individuals, children or adults, and communities in Arizona.

Health IT Buzz Blog, a blog by HHS's Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).

DigitalGov, a blog for anyone in government who uses digital media to achieve their agency mission and improve the customer experience. Also a blog for conversation, learning, and sharing.

From Our Corner, a blog by the Washington Office of the Secretary of State, which provides all informations about important state news and public services. The blog is used as a bridge between the public and Secretary Sam Reed and his staff.

PR5

Delaware Public Archives Blog, a blog in which its mission is to identify, collect, and preserve public records of enduring historical and evidential value, for present and future generations of Delawareans.

Please do not spam on above .gov blogs! Those blogs have comment policies that you should follow when you are going to give feedbacks.

Nofollow Backlink, Natural Link Building

September 27, 2012

Nofollow Link

What is Nofollow Backlink?

Blog commenting is the best way for link building. Although sometimes, blog commenting is called as blog spamming, if the comment only said Nice post, thanks., and embedded with anchor text of Buy 1 Get 1 Free Viagra below it.

In 2005, nofollow, a HTML attribute value that tells search engines to not follow the links, was assigned by Google in order to minimize blog spamming comments. Though, it definitely would not affect on stopping spamming behavior.

From its name definition, nofollow doesn't mean don't follow this link, more correctly it means don't add weight from this link. So, this rel="nofollow" attribute might still followed and indexed by some search engines including Google.

If it's true that nofollow attribute will order the search engines to not follow the links, then why the links were appeared in your Google Webmaster tools, and counted as your backlinks?

Nofollow Profile Backlinks

Have you added your links on the profile pages of high PR sites such as yahoo, facebook, twitter, youtube, flickr, etc?

Backlinks from those sites are worth a lot. Even though your links were on the PR0, or even PR N/A pages of the sites, but having backlinks from very strong sites are carried more weight than links from lower sites.

In other words, links from interior PR0 pages of PR9 sites, are better than links from interior PR0 pages of PR0 sites

Although links which are marked with nofollow won't contribute to your sites PR, you might still gain traffic from the sites. Moreover, links which are placed in viewable public profiles on High PR sites, are considered as Google Juice by many SEO experts.

Site Reputation

If your sites backlinks are only dofollow backlinks, your sites will look suspicious to Google and others search engines. As most webmasters had already known that nofollow backlinks have no SEO weight, but that was truly questionable to me.

Having many backlinks whether they are nofollow or dofollow will build your sites trustworthy and reputation. The more reputation your sites have, the more traffic will drive to your sites.

Many inbound links can help improve your rank in search engines, and can serve as a measure of a site's reputation.

Alexa Website.

Based on the statement at Alexa website above, it will look suspicious if your sites have less backlinks, whether they are dofollow or nofollow, but your Alexa traffic rank was high.

Top Sites Are Also Doing Blog Spamming

I once studied 2 sites that spamming the comments on my top blog post. Both of sites were high on Alexa rank, and already had the PR9 backlink that I described on my post. They both only promoted their own sites using anchor links.

The 1st site, let's say site A, was PR2 with Alexa rank below 100K. Site A has more than 800 inbound links. 30% of Top 100 Alexa sites linking to site A, were from edu sites, which are marked with nofollow.

The sad news was, last time I checked the site, since last May, site A admin has offered his full site for sale at $70 bid in a forum post.

The other site, site B, was PR4 with Alexa rank below 120K. Site B has more than 750 inbound links. More than 50% of Top 100 Alexa sites linking to site B, were from search engines (mostly Google), which are also marked with nofollow.

I was amazed the 1st time I saw site B inbound links. Site B was getting backlinks from major search engines, such as, google.co.in, google.com.hk, google.com.tr, bing.com, google.com.vn, google.fr, google.it, google.co.id, isearch.babylon.com, isearch.avg.com, search.mywebsearch.com, and many more, for various search queries. Alexa even counted backlinks from facebook.com and t.co (URL short from twitter.com), based on Top 20 Alexa sites linking to site B.

From certain pages on yahoo, facebook and twitter, your links might gain dofollow backlinks.

You see now.. Even the big guys (big sites) were still doing blog spamming.

Natural Link Building

Link building is not instant. I guess all instant matters will not good for us, because it will not last long. And also, instant foods are junk.

Be open minded webmasters! You should not worry about all of your sites backlinks. Whether they are dofollow or nofollow backlinks, having many inbound links will improve your sites visibility and reputation.

Write your best contents at least for your own sake, not for your readers, or even for search engines. If you love and happy with what you've written, it definitely will appear inside your post. Your readers will surely appreciate your effort, and so do the search engines.

Stop doing blog spamming! Repeating the same comments, if your 1st post on a site or blog is not published by the admin. The 2nd, 3rd, and all of your comment posts will end up in the spam junk.

9 Free High Quality Page Rank Backlinks

August 28, 2012

A site with high Page Rank (PR) doesn't mean that the site will be high in search ranking, or search engine result pages (SERPs). SEO methods such as, posts in forums, comments on other blogs, and link promoting on social media, will increase the site's ranking on a specific keyword's SERPs.

For a new site, having many backlinks will increase the site's visibility on search engine. Moreover, if the site's backlinks are from and to high quality related sites, it will impact on the site's PR. The more high a site's PR, the more often Googlebot crawled it, and indexed its pages.

You can check how many pages that Google had indexed your sites by googling it. For instance: site:verdilaurent.blogspot.com, or inurl:verdilaurent.blogspot.com. Change verdilaurent.blogspot.com with your sites URL.

Based on this blog backlinks, here are my top 9 high PR sites that you should try to join with:

Technorati
PR7, Alexa Rank 9,891. An internet search engine for searching blogs, or you might say, blog search engine. When your sites are listed in Tecnorati directory, your sites will get 2 nofollow backlinks from technorati.com and pingerati.net.

List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks

August 21, 2012

checklist

When you are commenting on a blog, and placing links of your URL site, it can give dofollow link to the your sites. However, most blogs are now marked with nofollow tag, which is useless in search engines. But I disagree with that statement. Although from the post that you've already commented on, your site was not getting indexed by the search engine, Google still counted the blogs domain as your backlinks. You can see it in your Google Webmaster tools, links to your site pages.

Also it's still managed to drive traffic to your site. Your blog comment will get clicked on by the blog's admin and the readers of the blog, only if your comments are, interesting, giving curiosity to know who has wrote the comment, controversy with the blog post's point of view, or related to the discussion of the other commenters who also posted on the blog.

Although .edu and .gov sites don't improve your site PR automatically, having backlinks from them were believed by many SEO experts as the Google juice links, and might improve your site visibility in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs), due to .edu and .gov sites are having high and trusted rank.

On the list below, .edu and .ac blogs are just the same thing. I try to sort them in alphabetical order. Some blogs were auto approved enable, or without comment moderation.

How to Get Free Backlink from PR9 Site

March 29, 2012

Blogger logo

If you are a webmaster, you would have known this, The more sites that are linking to your site, the more traffic you will get. That is truly a fact, there are no webmasters would doubt it. Many webmasters are trying hard to keep their Alexa rank as lower as they could.

Though even I could not understand what are alexa based for ranking the sites. On alexa website, it only said that, many inbound links can help improve your rank in search engines, and can serve as a measure of a site's reputation.

You would also probably saw an advertising about buying link from PR9 sites. Infact you wouldn't have to spent a dime to get backlink from a PR9 site based on my experience in this blog.

Yeah!! The site is blogger.com, a PR9 site with alexa rank 89 (last time I checked). How did I get that PR9 backlink for free? If you already have Google account, whether you have blog or not, you must have a blogger profile. Fill your blogger profile with your site!

And then, if you have already blogger profile with your site on it, you must have been wondering, why my site didn't get a backlink from blogger.com?

Actually, there are 2 ways to get a backlink from blogger.com. The main thing is, you must comment to other sites, especially blogger blogspot sites, using your Google account.

The second is, your comment must be unique, so that it can drive the other visitors of the site who also read the post, to view on your blogger profile.

The more people viewed on your profile, and visited the site on your blogger profile, the faster you get the PR9 backlink from blogger.com.

The truth is, by commenting to other blogs or sites, it will drive traffic to your site, at least an exchange visit from the site owner. Moreover, if you follow others blog using Google Friend Connect, that other blog will also get another backlink from blogger.com.

You should not have to place your site link, using html text, with an anchor text, for an intention to get dofollow backlink from the site. It would be considered as a spam comment, and the site owner would not publish your comment.

Internet Without Search Engine

March 19, 2012

How would it be if internet without search engine?

The 1st time when I was shaking hand with connections called internet, was on the year of 1999, it's when Y2K was the biggest thread on every PCs around the world. Back then, Google's search engine was not so popular as now, the #1 search engine that is now used by all internet users. In the past, I used to rely on my search using Yahoo's search engine, which @yahoo.com was became my second accounts that I used for an email account.

My first email account that I used was from @usa.net, which now is no longer hosted for free email account. Much news I got from Yahoo news, back then. I never got used to on using search engine to get what I needed to read. I always relied on my books, which my grandmother gave me in 1999, after I insisted on asking for it. 21 books of Encyclopedia International, copyright © 1975 by Grolier Incorporated. My very precious legacies from my late grandfather, who had passed away in 1996. None all of my aunt and uncle were managed to read it. That books were just became a shelf decoration, and always me, the one that used to read it, everytime I visited my grandfather's house.

Ok! Back to topic! I had read on many SEO advices about using the right keywords for your site. The best way to attract search engine attention to crawl to your site. How about if there's no search engine like Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc.? You named it! What's your strategy to drive traffic to your site then?

I recently found a site on the internet that haven't used search engine on it, for an intention that search engine won't crawl the site. The text in the bottom of the site said that. So, how do people including me are managed on finding their sites? I was carried to that site after I used Google on my search, then I landed to a site, I was arrived to that 'uncrawled by search engine' site after I clicked to that site's link that attrached me to visit. It's strange for me to see a site that never want to be index by search engine.

My own conclusion is, that the site was never meant to be easily to find by everyone, although that site got higher Alexa rank for traffic. Last time I checked, it's ranked by Alexa below 2,700 with more than 5,000 sites linking in, PR 5 with Google backlink, and also Alexa top 500 sites rank in Indonesia. Now, I know why the site didn't want search engine to index the site, cause it was already indexed. I wouldn't say that site's name here.

Based on my last post Another Way To Boost Your SEO Rankings, your web design might attrached your visitors to revisit your site, besides all your site contents and keywords to be crawled by the search engine. Some people I found in such forum said, that a web design with dark (black) background color with white, or orange text, like mine here, was really hurting their eyes. I laughed at myself to read that, and not hesitated on commenting to their thread.

You know why I choosed black and white for my blog? Orange is an optional color for a link text in my blog. Black and white is my favorite colors, it also means a lot for everything in all of our lifes. The good and the bad, better or worst, happy and sad, angels and demons, etc. If you ever went to Bali Island or asking to an Hindustani people about the meaning of blank and white colors, you'll know what I mean!

Web Counter with Traffic and Backlink

January 25, 2012

Looking for a web counter or hit counter for your wesite, is the first thing we usually do after we create a website. There are many service providers of web counter on the internet. Sometimes we wonder, where does our visitors come from? Although blogger are already had statistic page that show it, but we usually unsatisfied with the stat result. There is only one web counter I knew, that can drive traffic and also give a backlink to your website.

Get your own flagcounter!

A web counter that I love most is flagcounter from boardhost. I'm become the one from millions of fanatical fans of flagcounter. You can see here in my blog, there are 5 types of flagcounter from boardhost.

As an Indonesian, I should be proud because Indonesia becomes the fourth country that frequently access flagcounter site. This is seen from the flagcounter.com master counter here.

You can collect 51 regional flags from United States and 13 flags from Canada using free flagcounter. If you upgrade to become Pro user, you will have the ability to collect regional flags from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, and many more. For example, 33 regional flags from 33 provinces of Indonesia.

In addition, Pro users can make their flagcounter become private and can't be seen by their visitors. Pro users can also eliminate the flagcounter logo.

Flagcounter is only a simple image of html without having a javascript. It can be place everywhere on the site that support image. But on Facebook page or profile as far as I know, you can't place a flagcounter.

By avoiding too many widgets with javascript, will get your site index by Google bots faster. It will have resulting on the SERPs. That's the basic SEO that I've learnt.

One way to get more visitors or traffic to your website as well get a backlink from boardhost.com is by joining in the flagcounter forum here. By placing your website URL on your signature, it will give backlink to your website.

You can ask for other flagcounter forum members to visit your website, by posting with title 'Need a flag' for example, on flag requests section. But you must remember! You should also visit their website in return!!

Another Way To Boost Your SEO Rankings

January 15, 2012

A bad post is worst than no post at all

Did you ever heard the sentence above before? I'm 50% agree with that idea. You know why? Your blog content might be become the king, and then your blog design appearance should be the queen. If no post is better than a bad post or just a huge image on a blog, then why do you make a blog? Blog at first time was a kind of digital diary. People were posting to their blog to express their thought, mind, and share their expertise, and experience. No matter if there any readers that visit their blogs.

Back to the topic. If blog appearance is the queen, a way to beautify your blog is by creating slideshows. A beautiful and functional slideshow to improve your website performance, you should try SlideDeck.

SlideDeck is available as a jQuery Slider Plugin or WordPress plugin. There are two versions for both plugins: Lite (limited) version and a Pro (feature rich, customizable) version. SlideDeck is a powerful jquery slider plugin made for web designers. Automatically animate through your SlideDeck when visitors arrive on your website. You can use SlideDeck to explain how your web app works or let a user visually browse your blog posts. SlideDeck can actually boost your SEO rankings. The content from each slide is cleanly organized in your code and is automatically indexed by search engines.

With SlideDeck, you can organize any type of web content into a beautiful, user-friendly slider, and provides a great way to draw attention to your web content, while maintaining full search engine optimization. It is designed to provide understanding of a concept in less than a minute.
