The Red in Green

February 29, 2012

Goat curry and satay are my favorite foods, especially when it was my mother's cooking. Goat curry is considered to be food with high cholesterol, and goat meat consumption may increase the blood pressure. Because I have low blood pressure, it doesn't matter to me, as long as I'm not consume it excessively.

Watermelon vs. Cholesterol

I had a friend which is an Arabian descent once told me. Did you know? Arabians prefer to consume foods with high cholesterol, but less affected by diseases such as diabetes or cancer. My friend said, it's because on what they drink after having a meal. They choose a warm drink instead of cold drink after eating foods high in cholesterol. They also consume watermelon after having a meal with high cholesterol foods.

Seedless WatermelonWatermelon is a fruit that has about 90% water content in it. If you consume watermelon after having a meal, is believed to help expedite the process of the digestive tract, just like drinking water.

Watermelon as Viagra to Treat Erectile Dysfunction

Watermelon is a source of citrulline, an amino acid. The body then uses citrulline to make arginine, another amino acid, which plays a key role on the heart and circulation system, also maintains a good immune system.

Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it, said Bhimu Patil, a researcher and director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center. Arginine also helps the urea cycle in our bodies by removing toxic compounds such as ammonia. Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as Viagra, but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects, added Bhimu Patil.

Research by Texas A&M University has also shown that the phenolic/anthocyanin compounds in stone fruit (fruit with seeds in the flesh) have good antioxidant activity, and inhibitory effects on the proliferation of breast cancer, and erythroluekemia cancer cell lines. Inflammation is a key process involved in bowel diseases, and in development of colon cancer.

Watermelon with Poison Addition

Due to bad weather, a heavy rainy season, sometimes watermelon is often being harvested before it's time. The bad seller on traditional market often doing some tricky ways to sell those fruits by injected it with sweetener, and red colour, I don't know if it may be a food coloured, but I guess it's not.

My mother was used to buy watermelon in a traditional market. A friendly fruit seller had told my mother to not to buy a watermelon, especially in this time of rainy season in Indonesia, due to many of injected watermelons sold. On the other hand, another tricky fruit seller also promoted his watermelon to my mom, that after 3 days the watermelon is ready to eat. My mom then cancelled her purchased on watermelon.

Sometimes, a tricky fruit seller also spray on the skin of other fruit such as grapes with borax, also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, to make it looks more shiny, and to keep it looks 'fresh' to sell. It is a common used in Indonesia, although it's forbidden, addition to foods such as noodles, bakso (meatballs), ikan asin (dry salty fish), and to other foods products, or even vegetables.

Watermelon-rind Juice

I've still remembered a TV show some years ago, a health TV programme hosted by the late Prof. Dr. Hembing Wijayakusuma, Indonesian expert of traditional medicine and acupuncture, who had past away on last August 2011. The part I remembered was when Dr. Hembing informed the benefit from watermelon-rind juice.

Why does Dr. Hembing use watermelons-rind to make a juice? It is because citrulline is found in higher concentrations in watermelons-rind, rather than the flesh. Also you may not want to eat the rind, don't you? Watermelon-rind juice is used to treat diseases such as, inflammation of the kidneys, difficult urination, and to overcome high blood presure, or chronic hypertension.

History of The Book: Codex

February 27, 2012

Book, a tool for communication that had been used since 5,000 years ago. Book has survived many radical changes in format. An obsolete form of book is the cuneiform clay tablet, used in Mesopotamia by the Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, and Persians from 3,000 BC. Cuneiform is based on a wedge-shaped mark, and represents one of man's earliest efforts to communicate by written language, until it was abandoned around 500 BC, in favor of alphabetic writing on papyrus.

Ancient Egyptian papyrus scroll was in common use until 300 AD. It was made by gluing sheets of papyrus together on alternate edges. Chinese 5th century BC books were made of bamboo strips bound together by cords. The saying of Confusius were recorded on bamboo. Chieh-yuan, a Buddhist scripture, was written in 448 AD, became one of the oldest manuscripts extant in China. Other primitive forms include leather rolls, as in the case of the Dead Sea Scrolls, was writing on bark, and palm leaves.

Codex, a conventional modern book. Codex is made by binding together along one edge a number of leaves piled on top each other, each leaf being folded from a sheet that contains two or more leaves. Codex was slow in replacing the scroll, and it was first used by Christians, such as the four Gospels, or St. Paul's Epistles. Vellum codices came into general use in the 4th century. The following are some most important historically codex in alphabetical order:

Codex Alexandrianus, "Codex A", a 5th century manuscript of the Greek Bible, nearly complete (773 leaves out of 820), evidently written in Egypt. Cyril Lucar, when Patriach of Constantinople, presented it to King James I of England (c.1625). It's now in the British Museum.

Codex Amiatinus, the best extant manuscript of the Vulgate edition of the Latin Bible. It was written at one or other of the twin Benedictine monasteries of Jarrow and Wearmouth, England, to the order of Abbot Ceolfrid, in 716 for presentation to Pope Gregory II. It is now in the Laurentian Library at Florence.

Codex Bezae, "Codex D", a 5th century bilingual manuscript of the Gospels, Acts, and part of III John, with Greek on the left hand page, and Latin on the right. Important for its additions to the common text. It was presented by Theodore Beza to Cambridge University Library in 1581.

Codex Ephraemi, "Codex C", a 5th century manuscript containing 64 leaves of the Old Testament, and 145 out of 238 of the New. It's a palimpsest, the Biblical text having been rubbed out to make room for a treatise of St. Ephraem Syrus. It's now on Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris.

Codex Fuldensis, a Latin Vulgate manuscript of the New Testament, written about 545 for Bishop Victor of Capua, Italy. Brought to Jarrow, England, 150 years later. It's now in Fulda, Germany, where it was taken by the English missionary St. Boniface (c.744). In it the four Gospels are rearranged so as to form one continuous narrative.

Codex Sinaiticus, "Codex Aleph", a 4th century Greek manuscript, containing one third of the Old Testament, and all of the New. Discovered in 1844 by Constantine Tischendorf in St. Catharine's Monastery on Mount Sinai. It was presented in 1859 to the Tsar of Russia, and was bought for the British Museum in 1933.

Codex Vaticanus, "Codex B", a 4th century vellum manuscript of the Greek Bible, of unsurpassed importance. Probably written in Alexandria, Egypt, 759 leaves survive out of 820, and the New Testament ends at Heb. 9:14. Its earlier history is unknown, but it has been in the Vatican Library since the 15th century, except for six years 1809-15, in Paris. Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus were the oldest Biblical manuscripts known before the discovery of the Chester Beatty Papyri in 1931, and the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1948-56.

Attribute to Geek

February 23, 2012

Jeans called Beauty and The Geek are totally made for geeks. The Holland duo, Erik de Nijs and Tim Smit are really made some invention on wireless keyboard that really expensive and also controversy in my own perspective.

I guess this jeans are never meant to use for ladies, or also to be wear on public place. Look where does the return button place at?

This wireless keyboard jeans doesn't also mention to be waterproof. I assume that this jeans is suitable for those geek jeans collectors that never wash their jeans. If it able to reach global market for the price of £250, will you buy it? Because when I wrote this post, the Holland duo still didn't have enough money to get it ready for the market.

But, still, eventhough it is a quiet weird invention and unusual idea to gain control on your computer without sitting closed behind your PC or laptop, it is really an artistic invention. I guess the high price to get it, due to its artistic value, because you can buy a new laptop with the price of £250.

What Would You Choose? Butter or Margarine?

Original Blue Band Margarine Made In Kenya Augason Farms Butter Powder

You would found very hard to get a butter in the traditional market, or even in the supermarket, near your neighbourhood, if you live here in Indonesia. Nearly all Indonesian people thought that margarine and butter are just the same. The naming and use are often equated. Butter as margarine, or margarine as butter. Also often been mistaken to consider butter as cheese.

If you don't pay enough attention on both of them, they seem to have a similar color, but apparently they're not. Each of them have a very distinctive aroma, texture, color, and flavor. Butter is derived from milk or animal fats. Butter enriched with vitamin A, D, E and K, which are not soluble in water. Butter is capable of providing a longer sense of fullness and give more savory flavor and aroma that is more sharply on food.

While margarine is made from vegetable oils or fats. Margarine consist of a water-in-fat emulsion, 80% fat, 20% water, fortified with vitamin A, and D to match butter's nutritions. Margarine is also known to be butter's substitute. For years, margarine was believed to be more healthy than butter, which was known contains lots of cholesterol and saturated fat. Most people assumed that margarine is also good for your heart, but their assumption turned out to be wrong.

Margarine is produced by heating hydrogen to harden vegetable oils, a process called hydrogenation, or partially hydrogenating. It converts the oil into a solid, which makes easier to carry. However, the high temperature on hydrogenation process, destroys vitamin E and other nutrients left in the vegetable oil.

Based on Harvard study, margarine actually contains trans fatty acids, or trans fats, due to its partially hydrogenating vegetable oils. Trans fats are worse for cholesterol levels than saturated fats, because they raise bad LDL and lower good HDL, it may lead to increasing the risk of inflammation, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Excessive consumption of margarine also can trigger diseases such as colitis and arthritis.

Partially hydrogenated oils are not only in margarines, but also found in commercially prepared baked goods, snack foods, processed foods, French fries, restaurants's fried foods and fast food franchises. That's why the term junk food are came from.

The good news is that margarine manufacturers are now cutting their total trans fat levels as close to zero as possible. They switched the partially hydrogenated vegetable oil to water or liquid vegetable oil.

What would you choose then? Butter or margarine?

If it is possible, you can skip using both of them. Use olive oil, canola oil, or another liquid vegetable oil. It's best way for us to stay healthy by being mindful of the amount of food we eat, in relation to the amount of calories we burn in a day, suggest Harvard scientist.

Bacterial Infections

February 20, 2012

Bacteria are important in the production of cheese, butter, yoghurt, sour cream, sauerkraut, pickles, and vinegar. Bacteria are used to process linen and to soften animal hides. Certain antibiotic drugs are obtained from bacteria. The important industrial solvents, acetone, and butyl alcohol are produced by bacterial fermentations.

The primitive microscopic organisms belonging to the lowest division of the plant kingdom, are widely distributed in nature. Bacteria are being found in soil, air, water, on plants and animals. Bacteria exist in environments where few other life forms can maintain themselves, such as hot springs where the temperature reaches 180 °F (82 °C), in the Antarctic Ocean, and in deep oceanic waters where they live under pressures of thousands of pounds per square inch.

Despite their extremely important role to other living organisms and the cycle of organic processes, they are also responsible for many plant, animal, and human diseases. Few events in the history of mankind have been as devastating as the Black Death, or bubonic plague, which swept through Europe in the 14th century (1348 to 1350), killing approximately 25 million people, 30–60 percent of Europe's population. Physicians have been identified a host of ailments as being caused by bacteria, including syphilis, typhoid fever, diphtheria, scarlet fever, diarrhea, and many other.

Exposure to pathogenic (disease-producing) bacteria doesn't guarantee that disease will result. This depends upon particular bacteria involved, the number of organisms that enter the body, and the ability of the body to fight the infection (immunity). Some bacteria are everyday inhabitants of the skin and the intestinal tract. As long as they remain confined to these places they are harmless, however, should they gain entrance to other parts of the body, they are capable of producing serious diseases. Infections of the kidneys (pyelonephiritis) or bladder (cystitis) are caused by bacteria that have escaped from intestinal tract.

Bacteria may produced the symptoms of disease through the effects of bacterial poisons (toxins). These substances may be secreted by the bacteria (exotoxins), or be built into the structure of the bacterial cell (endotoxins). The endotoxins are liberated only upon the death of the cell.

Bacteria are selective in the parts of the body that they choose to invade. The staphylococci infect the skin, producing boils and acne. The streptococci attack the throat. Tuberculosis and pneumonia are caused by organisms that settle in the lungs. Meningitis, an infections of the tissues surrounding the brain, is caused by various organisms, including the meningococcus, pneumococcus, streptococcus, and staphylococcus.

Bacterial endocarditis, bacterial infection of the lining of the heart, particularly of the heart valves. It usually appears in anyone who have previously had rheumatic or congenital heart disease. Treatment is with antibiotic drugs and depends upon the proper identification of the infecting bacteria. Penicilin-resistant organisms may be responsible in some cases and require special selection of antibiotics.

Diseases such as diptheria, tetanus, meningitis, and typhoid can be prevented by immunization, and many other bacterial diseases can be treated by antibiotic drugs. Tuberculosis patients must daily consume of antibiotic drugs for 6 month treatment. Most death from bacterial infections are caused by organisms that have become resistant to the action of antibiotics.

Frustrated Inc.

February 18, 2012

Misery, everyone must have felt, at least once in a lifetime. I wrote this post after listening to the song from Soul Asylum - Misery. By being such thing, often made someone so desperated to keep on continuing to do anything. Have no desire on anything. Life's so boring.

Actually, it was you, the one who made your own misery. Broken heart? Does it make your life misery? No, it was not. You are the one who thinks your life would be miserable after being dump by your lover. Life is not that short. You should remember this.

A drop of mother's tear is worth than a cup of lover's tear

Does your mother cry to see you were being dump by your ex? Then why should you cry? Does your mother feel sad to see you sad? Well. She must have been. But enough is enough, sad for today is only for today. There are many beautiful lifes await you for tomorrow.

I read about the news lately, there was a couple of boy and girl who celebrated Valentine moment, ended with a suicide done by the boy. The boy's friend had already noticed that he was going to kill himself and his girlfriend on the Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is a death day, said the boy to his friend, on the day before he found hang himself on the wood, next to his girlfriend body lying on the ground, with severe injuries found on her neck.

Desperate people really have no standpoint! As said by Soul Asylum on the song lyric, ..we created the cure, we made the disease.. So, it was you who can cure yourself, not your mom or even your shrink. Talk to someone would be better. It will reduced the heavy burdent that you are carrying.

Make yourself busier is another way to help you forget your misery. But before doing that, you must forgive yourself! You cannot forget anything without forgiving yourself. No matter if you are right or wrong, the very first thing to do is to forgive yourself.

Have a nice weekend!!

Quality of Communication: Key to Lasting Marriage

February 16, 2012

A few years after getting married, some couples would have found their romance was not like at the first time they both met. Both of them were no longer felt their past romances, no more passion.

The waning romance could be increasingly congested due to your busyness partner. You could feel very lonely in your marriage. Especially if you already had children, the time for being together with your partner would be very valuable moment.

But, by the time you were being together, it often that you would spend it on a fight. A trivial matter that being discussed led to a huge uproar.

" It can be overcome by the quality of your communication, " said Ratih Ibrahim, a psychologist. "Communication can work well, if love and trust of each other is good. If not, you will get lots of misunderstanding. What you're talking about will get different interpretations," explains Ratih to wolipop.

Based on her experience as a psychologist, Ratih frequently discuss marital issues, and with her own 22 years of wedding, for her, trust is to be one of the key to lasting marriage. " If you have enough trust on your partner, every little things that your partner had done would be forgiven. Nobody's perfect, including yourself, " she said.

Always be positive thinking about your partner. By opening your mind and not always feel suspicion or get easily emotion to your partner, you will always feel with full of positive energy, and then the limited time to meet each other would be qualified. You would feel no longer, a loneliness in your marriage.

When you choose to love and trust your partner, it means that you also must accept all the consequences. True loves for me, means loving your partner due to her/his negativities or un-perfections. If you are willing to accept all of your partner un-perfections, means that you're trully love your partner.

" The Perfect Marriage is not Expecting Perfection "

Nobody's Perfect!!

Addicted to Coffee

February 14, 2012

Hot Black Coffee

I consider to be coffee addicted. But, I managed to drink coffee for three cups a day maximum. I regularly drunk coffee two cups, a cup in the morning, and the other on the afternoon. My extra cup was on mid-day, when it is time for coffee break at work. My regular coffee is black coffee with sugar rates 1:1. Based on an article I have ever read, doctor advised us to use four tablespoon of sugar for a day consuming, this is the maximum dose for consuming sugar.

Based on my experience every end of the month, when I had an overtime job until 12 pm. I went home at 1 am with my tired body, drank a cup of hot coffee, and 30 minutes later, I went to sleep. I usually drink coffee no longer than 15 minutes, due to I hate a warm or even a cold coffee. A cold coffee is different from an iced coffee, a cold coffee will get my stomach colic. So, if your body was too tired, Caffeine were no longer awaked you.

Will Drink Too Much Coffee Make You Sick?

Many issues have been developed regarding the negative effects of drinking coffee on the body, such as increased risk of cancer, type 2 diabetes, insomnia, heart disease, and loss of concentration.

Research on Harvard reveals the opposite. Caffeine in coffee was able to suppress the growth of cancer cells in stages. Caffeine can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by maintaining the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Caffeine in coffee has also been shown to prevent heart attacks. In some cases, consumption of coffee can keep you awake and improve concentration, though it is not significantly. Lots of athletes consumed coffee before competing, due to the active compounds in coffee can increase the body's energy metabolism.

Coffee also contains antioxidant compounds in considerable amounts. The antioxidants can help the body in warding off the effects of destruction by free radicals, such as cancer, diabetes, and decreased immune response. Some examples of the antioxidant compounds found in coffee are polyphenol, flavonoid, proanthocyanidin, coumarin, chlorogenic acid, and tocopherols.

Coffee consumption may protect against type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, liver cancer, and liver cirrhosis. Harvard latest study on coffee found that, people who regularly drank coffee actually had lower risk of death from cardiovascular disease than those who rarely drank coffee.

However, research on Harvard did not find any link between coffee consumption and increasing the risk of death from cancer, or death from cardiovascular disease. Even to people who drank up to six cups of coffee everyday, were at no higher risk of death.

But...

If you drink too much coffee, you will get tremors, have sleeping problems and often getting insomnia, feeling stressed and uncomfortable. Harvard study on coffee was based on a black coffee, or with less milk, or less sugar. The study was not on coffee that sold on famous cafe, such as Starbucks. Starbucks's whipped cream Mocha Frappachino has almost 500 calories. This could lead you to weight gain over time, which could in turn increase the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Drinking coffee as a lifestyle habit is side by side with unhealthy cigarette smoking activity. Smoking while drinking coffee is such activity that cannot be separated.

Harvard scientists suggest us, that if we want to improve our health, it is better for us to focus on our lifestyle factors, such as increasing our physical activity, quitting smoking, or eating more whole grains.

Healthy Labelled Foods

February 10, 2012

USDA organic seal

Many foods processed products turn out to be unhealthy. Many fast foods, and variety meat processed products whether they come from factory, or small home industries are contain preservatives, or artificial sweetener in their food products.

Using artificial sweeteners may seem like a smart idea to avoid extra calories. But you may be exposing yourself to a diet sweetener commonly used in food products. An artificial sweetener that you should be watch out for is aspartame. Aspartame has been identified as the cause of several fatal diseases, and it is derived from genetically modified bacteria.

By labelling food processed products with Fat Free or Healthy, many people are interested and believed that the foods are healthy. Here are some would say healthy foods, but apparently they were not:

  • Fat Free Labelled Foods

Fat-free doesn't mean calorie free. Simply because it contains no fat, does not mean, it is good for your health. There are many healthy foods and fat free, such as apples, chocolates, or any others fruits, vegetables and delicious foods for diet.

  • Sports or Energy Drinks

Energy drinks may contain important electrolytes such as potassium and sodium, which is required in the sport intense, or endurance training. While energy drinks contain a lot of corn syrup with fructose, added sugar, and saturated fat.

Most energy drinks contain 125 more calories per 20 lbs, and some energy drinks contain at least 350 more calories than other snacks. However, the drinks were not required on light activity. For daily activity, choose only water to avoid dehydration.

  • Restaurant Baking Potato

A baked potato is very healthy. Potatoes are rich in vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. Medium-sized baked potato contains about 160 calories.

However, if you bought it from a restaurant, do not assume those baked potatoes are a healthy choice. Many restaurants serve baked potatoes which contain butter, cream cheese, meats, and other materials that can add up to about 600 calories and 20 grams of fats.

  • Salad

Salad of tuna, chicken or shrimp often laden with fats, and contains as many calories as high mayonnaise content. Tuna sandwich contains 700 calories and 40 grams of fats. Choose a salad which made with low fat mayonnaise and pay attention on your salad portion.

  • Low-Fat Peanut Butter

Low-fat peanut butter doesn't always mean a healthy version of regular peanut butter. Regular or low-fat peanut butter contains the same calories, but the low-fat butter contains more sugar. Regular peanut butter is a natural source of good unsaturated fats. Look for regular peanut butters that are not containing added oils.

  • Dairy Products

Many cows in the United States are injected with bovine growth hormone in large number to stimulate the production of milk. Cheese may also made using cow's milk that produced from genetically modified cows. Cheese is also produced from a genetically modified enzyme called chymosin.

  • Muffin

Muffins made with healthy materials, but the problem is on the portions. Some muffins that are sold in many coffee shops and restaurants are contained with a portion more than 350 calories.

Muffins that are sold in some famous bakery shops could contain 600 mg sodium, approximately one-third of the maximum limit of sodium per days. Healthy food if consumed excessively can be unhealthy. Eat only half portion of muffins and keep the rest for the afternoon.

  • Fruit Juice

All kind of fruit juices are healthy if they are only added with less sugar, or without it. But if fruit juices are added with too many sugar, ice cream, and chocolates can lead to very high calories.

  • Packaging Processed Turkey

Turkeys are a source of protein without fats, and a good choice for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, a sliced of processed turkey loaded with sodium. 2lbs of processed turkey contains nearly one-third of maximum daily sodium intake. Be sure to buy a fresh turkey.

  • Wheat Labelled Bread

Sometimes not a lot of wheat bread is made from healthy grains, in which are good for the heart. Wheat bread products often are labelled with Seeds and Wheat. In fact it was made with refined grains, or even worst if it produced using genetic modification. So, it doesn't contain nutrients from whole grains. Read carefully on the nutrition fact labels. If the wheat flour in the ingredient list is refine, then it is not 100% whole wheat bread.

The shocking news was, six out of ten bread sold in Indonesia, turned out to be contained with borax. Preservative that should not to be used in food, because it can lead to cancer if it accumulates for a long time. While two of them are from well-known branded bread which easily be found in nearest supermarkets.

Despite all unhealty foods above, you can still minimize the risk for your body. Drink only water after you eat all those foods. It will purify your body. Eating from an organic foods perhaps will be a very good choice. Foods that are grown without the use of any chemical fertilizers and pesticides, will make your healthy life evens better. Healthy life is priceless and that is the fact.

The Papal States of The Holy See

February 08, 2012

Papal States, former Italian territory under the temporal rule of the Popes. Although earlier papal claims had been made to Rome and other parts of Italy, the states formally originated in 754, when Pepin The Short (c.714-768), 1st Carolingian King of the Franks, conquered the Lombards and bestowed a large portion of central Italy upon Pope Stephen III (752-757). Pepin founded the temporal power of Papacy, which endured until 1870.

In 773, Pope Hadrian I (772-795) prevailed upon Charlemagne, or Charles The Great (742-814), son of Pepin, to come to his help. The Frankish King repudiated the Lombard Queen he had married, and the Lombard alliance she had represented, then marched into Italy. In 774, Charlemagne deposed the last German Lombards, and claimed the title for himself. He confirmed for the Pope the ' Donation of Pepin', by which his father had recognized the regions around Rome as Papal territory (the Patrimony of St. Peter). On Chistmas night, 800, Charlemagne was crowned Roman Emperor by Pope Leo III (795-816). However, throughout his reign, Charlemagne himself and not the Pope remained the effective ruler of Papal States.

Europe and the Papacy suffered cruelly during terrible civil wars among the descendants of Charlemagne, and more terrible raids of the Vikings, Saracens, Avars, and Magyars. Saracen raiders sacked St. Peter's in 846.

Further territory was conferred upon the Church during the Middle Ages, but the status of the Popes as secular rules remained ambiguous, due to political conflicts with the Holy Roman Emperors. At their widest extent the Italian Papal States stretched in a rough diagonal from coast to coast in central Italy. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the county of Venaissin, with Avignon, in what is now France, was added.

While the Catholic Reformation of the 16th century increased the spiritual authority of the Pope, the political power of the Papacy declined. Twice during French Revolutionary and Napoleonic times, the Papal States were formally abolished and came under French hegemony. In 1815, Congress of Vienna restored papal control under Austrian protection.

The 19th century Popes were generally opposed to the movement for Italian unification. In 1859, as a result of the Italo-Austrian War, the Papacy was deprived of more than two-thirds of the 16,000 sq. mi. that constituted its traditional domain. In 1870, when an occupation force of French troops was withdrawn by Napoleon III, the remaining papal territory, centering around the city of Rome, was incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy.

The Popes refused to recognize the legality of the action. Until Lateran Treaty, an agreement in 1929, between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Italy that healed the breach between the two created by Italy's seizure of Rome in 1870. It consisted a political agreement, a financial settlement, and an ecclesiatical concordant regulating the relations between the Church and the state in Italy. In February 11, 1929, under the terms of political agreement, the Holy See recognized the Kingdom of Italy, with Rome as its capital, and the new state of Vatican City, a small area of 108,7 acres within the city of Rome. Vatican City's inviolability and neutrality were guarantee by the Italian government, was created under the sovereignty of the Pope. The Lateran Treaty increased temporally the prestige of Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini. The republican constitution adopted in 1947, recognized that relations between the Church and the Italian state were governed by the Lateran Treaty.

Fight Against Cancer Using Your Own Toxic Waste

February 06, 2012

Urine Therapy

Would believe it? Drink your urine to heal your cancer. Urine therapy is a method to maintain health and treatment that uses your own urine as a drug. More than 3 million of people in China who do the therapy believe this process will make your body more healthy. Also in India, this tradition is still performed by most society.

As an example in India, former Prime Minister of India, Morarji Desai (29 February 1896 – 10 April 1995), became a pioneer of urine therapy, by drinking 1 cup of urine every morning. Morarjibhai attributed his longevity to drinking urine. He began drinking at the age of 65 years, until he died nearly 100 years old.

Urine compositions are 95% of water, and 2.5% of urea. Another 2.5% are mixture of minerals, salts, enzymes, and hormones. That means your toxic urine is natural substances. Urine therapy is known to help boost immunity.

If water is the best medicine God has provided, then urine is the best medicine produced by the body. Babies while in the womb of the mother as well urinate and then swallow itself through the amniotic.

Urine therapy is believed to cure many diseases, such as cancer, ulcers, colitis, asthma, heart disease, high/low blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, infertility, headache, and backache. It also can make your skin smooth, plaque-loss of skin blemishes, gray hair becomes back to black, relieve constipation, helping the circulation of blood, and urine.

According to urinoterapis experts, urine therapeutic dose is unlimited, it means more urine you drink, more faster the recovery. You can't get poisoning, or overdose, and no side effects. But symptoms may occur, the reaction is called Koten (Japan) or Meigen (Chinese), which means in case of symptoms such as itching, diarrhea, bone pain, coughing, bloating, constipation, teeth and gums aches and headache. The symptoms means that you are on recovery process.

Do not fear or panic! You may stop drinking 2-3 days until symptoms disappear. You may also be taking medicine for relieve symptoms while drinking urine. It is recommended to drink in the mornings between 4 - 6 am. How your urine is taken, get rid of the beginning droplets and the end. Take the in between only.

According to an urinoterapis expert, Dr. Iwan T. Budiarso, DVM, MSc, PhD, APU, urine contains minerals, vitamins, enzymes, hormones, amino acids, antibodies, antigens, allergen, salt and other nutrients. There are ten hypotheses on how urine therapy work :

  1. The absorption and reuse of nutrients.
  2. The re-absorption hormone. For example, corticosteroids that can prevent infection, arthritis and asthma. Melationin as a sedative and anti cancer.
  3. The re-absorption of the enzyme.
  4. The re-absorption urea. Urine contains 25-30 grams of urea per day. Urea is absorbed will be converted into amino acids.
  5. The immunity effect.
  6. The bactericidal and virusida effect.
  7. As the salt therapy useful to facilitate metabolism, get rid of excess blood sugar, and remove toxic substances from fluids and tissues.
  8. To give effect diuretics, namely to stimulate kidney, increasing urine production, clean kidney and wash sugar blood and toxic substances.
  9. As the image hologram. Its Biofeedback provides full image of the body. Drinking urine will correcting and restoring the balance of body's physiology that have been disturbed by the disease.
  10. Giving psychological effect. This therapy is considered as the healing from the inside of the body, as a mechanistic and holistically at energy levels.

Based on research, substances in the urine contained anti-neoplastic (anti malignancy), making it useful for the treatment of cancer. But there are also substances dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in considerable amounts, who have effects of anti-aging, anti-cancer and anti-obesity

Urine therapy is still become pros and cons nowadays, especially on the side view of the urine itself, nasty, dirty, disgusting, taboo or unclean to some religions, and toxic waste that should be discarded. Apart from those, this therapy can be considered for alternative treatments, if medical treatment doesn't work. I had once tried this urine therapy to heal my eye ache, by dropping it into my eye. But I'm able to continue it the next day, due to I can't get rid off the nasty feeling, so I went to see doctor. It all depends on you, take it or leave it!

History of Fashion

February 04, 2012

Fashion, the artistic approach to designing, selling, and, wearing clothes. To be in fashion is to conform to the constantly changing artistic ideal of the current day.

Modern fashion began at the end of World War I, when the invention of the new industrial clothing machinery made the burgeoning of the now vast ready-to-wear industry possible. Before World War I, clothes were inspired by Paris, but made with many personal interpretations by dressmakers all over the world. A situation in which two well-known women, appeared at the same public event, in the same dress, would have been virtually impossible.

Although modern fashion may seem to outsiders, to have move capriciously in many directions, since its beginning, its course has actually been uniquely simple and direct. Fashion has been tending steadly toward simplification and realism.

Fabrics have become consistently lighter in weight and more workable. Miracle drip-dry fabrics created a world-wide furor, when they were invented in the early 1940's. The development of new stretch fabrics, which move with the body have made clothes even more workable.

Fashion's most drastic change happened in the 1920's, when at the end of the war, women rebelled against restriction and artificiality. Almost overnight they shifted into the limp little short dress that was the flapper's uniform. Paris designer, Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel sparked the fashion revolution. She also introduced wool jersey, the forerunner of the popular knit fashion.

The 1930's were probably the most charming era in modern fashion. Sportswear, at first very feminine, was born to answer to women's increasing freedom. Though clothes were becoming softer and simpler, they still kept some of their old-time personal mystery. Hollywood's stars were a fashion power in the US.

Paris in the 1930's was at a peak of creative activity. The snob appeal of buying original Paris designs, to be copied by American manufacturers, had begun. Paris was full of great names like Molyneux, Vionnet, and Mainbocher. The word chic, meaning the ultimate in fashion, became popular. It was personified in Elsa Schiaparelli, whose flippant, tongue-in-cheek fashion approach was cancelled by World War II, which saw the fashion capital occuppied by invading German armies.

In Paris 1947, Christian Dior launched the New Look. The New Look, probably a subconscious rejection of uniforms and restrictions, detoured fashion into a romantic bypath. Although it didn't actually change fashion inevitable course, it was a persistent influence for 7 years.

In 1951, Italy made its 1st bid as a fashion center. Its extrovert mood has been strikingly successful, chiefly in sportswear. Emilio Pucci's bold-colored silk print shirts and pants have been world influence in fashion.

England went ahead in the fashion world with the introduction of 'mod' and 'mini' clothes, in mid-1960's. London's influence was also felt in men's fashions, which changed markedly in the late 1960's.

The US is not actually in competition with England, France, or Italy, all of which it taps for creative ideas, simply because it likes to. US creative designers like Norman Norell, James Galanos, and Pauline Trigere, chooses to concentrate on successful production offering a wide range of types, sizes, and prices. An incredibly wide range of types, sizes, and prices make US ready-to-wear the envy of the rest of the world.

February 02, 2012

Do not ever underestimate, if your close friend, brother, sister, or your relatives says, " I just want to die ". Sometimes, we are less concerned about our society, if there's someone who says so, infact most people even criticize, " You must not talk like that. As if You don't believe in God ". Until suddenly, one day people found his/her body hanging.

Just like this famous Korean artist, Jang Ja-yeon.

Jang Ja-yeon

Her death became hot news around the world since 2009. A suicide note left by Jang Ja-yeon, describes how she was beaten and forced, to entertain and have sex, with several program directors, CEOs, and media executives. Jang Ja-yeon had been suffering from clinical depression, and had received medical treatment for her illness, during the past year. That note describes her main source of clinical depression.

Jang Ja-yeon was found hanged at her home on March 7, 2009. She had already complained to her sister about the " overwhelming stress " she was having. She said, " to die ", to her sister by phone at the night she hang herself. Jang Ja-yeon's sister found her body hanging from the stairway banister. A police investigation concluded that her death was a suicide.

Many people commit suicide are consider a form of an experienced from their clinical severe depression. All their speech is not a joke, and it's a " Silent Alarm " to cry for help. All your advice is not what they need. By assisting, and hearing their complains, that are forms of help that they are needed. Do not even criticize or blame everything they had done. It will only be assured them, that if no one wants to understand them.

God has gave us two ears and one mouth for us, to listen more than talk. So listen to them! If someone suffers from clinical depression, their mindset will be distorted. All your words would meaningless to them.

The death rate from suicide more and more in this world. It also encourages the WHO to create a campaign to raise public awareness for prevention. Suicidal ideation is an important issue of medical-psychiatric. There's so much life to live, care for each other!

When Jaka Tarub Met Nawang Wulan

Back in 2004, when I went to Beny's home town, Magetan, East Java, for the 1st time. After spent a night at Beny's parent house, in the morning, we both went to Lake Sarangan on motor-bike. Lake Sarangan is one of famous tourism in Magetan. Before we reached Lake Sarangan, we passed by Lake Urung, a lake below Lake Sarangan. From that moment I felt something weird, for me, Lake Urung seems to be superstitious.

Some folks myth said that if a young couple that is going to get married, is passing by Lake Urung, their marriage will be cancelled. Because Urung in Javanese language means not yet, or cancel. Anyway, Lake Urung and Lake Sarangan are in the valley of sacred Mt. Lawu, another famous tourism for mount climbing in Magetan.

After we arrived at Lake Sarangan, my first sight is pointed me to the small island in the middle of Lake Sarangan. I sensed a lot of electromagnetic energies laid there. Beny told me that in some night, there were paranormal activities occured in that island, as also on Mt. Lawu National Park, especially on Saka's New Year eve. Many mount climbers are often get lost when climbed to Mt. Lawu for some unexplain reason without an expert guide.

After that, me and Beny took the ride to Cemoro Sewu, the entrance to Mt. Lawu from East Java side. It was a hard ride with motor-bike. I often jump off Beny's bike, due to the road is to high to climb. After arrived at Cemoro Sewu, we both took a coffee break at a small shop.

I don't have guts to enter Mt. Lawu, due to the high of electromagnetic energy I have sensed. Mt. Lawu was believed to be the center of paranormal activities in Java Island, since the Javanese ancestor, especially for His Majesty Sultans of Solo and Jogjakarta.

I don't know exactly why have I started to remember the story about Goddess Nawang Wulan, when I arrived with Beny at Cemoro Sewu. Perhaps due to lots of sacred watershed pool or small lake at Mt. Lawu, 'Sendang Panguripan' or 'Lake of Life' for instance. Couple days ago, I saw a FTV movie adapted from the legend, which was combined with modern culture. It makes me eager to write about the legend.

The Legend of Jaka Tarub & Nawang Wulan

Jaka Tarub is a handsome young man who has supernatural powers. He often went out into the woods to hunt and gain knowledge. When a full moon day in the evening, he entered a forest, from a distance he heard the faint sound of women who were joking.

Curious, Jaka Tarub goes looking for direction toward the voices. Finally he found a beautiful lake in the middle of the woods, along with 7 beautiful naked women were taking a bath and teased each other. While he was hiding, he found those women's scarfs were lying scattered. Then, he stole one of them and hide it.

A moment later, they seem were about to finnish their bathe. 6 of them were wearing their long scarfs, then flew up into the night sky. Jaka Tarub later noticed that these women were the Goddess from Nirvana. But a Goddess was left alone in the lake. Since she has lost her scarfs, she couldn't return to the sky, and then she burst into tears.

If anyone finds my scarf, if a man, I'll make him to be my husband, and if a woman, I'll make her to be my sister, vowed the Goddess. Jaka Tarub then revealed himself and entertained the Goddess. He gave her a piece of cloth to wear, but he still hid her scarf, so that she couldn't fly.

The Goddess then fulfill her vow and is married to Jaka Tarub. Nawang Wulan is the Goddess name. Since married her, Jaka Tarub were wealthy. Large amount of harvest and his granaries are always filled with rice without ever lack. Nawang Wulan's scarf was hidden by Jaka Tarub, in a barn that is always full. They were blessed with a child and live happily.

But after a long married life, Jaka Tarub was curious. Every day, his family always eat rice, but the barn was never reduced as there is no rice that used to eat them. One day, Nawang Wulan went out. She advised her husband to keep the fire stove in the kitchen, but forbade him to unscrew the pot. Nawang Wulan also prohibit Jaka Tarub to go into the kitchen, while she was cooking. Jaka Tarub was doing what his wife told him to do, but his curiosity made him disobeyed his wife orders. He opened the lid on the pot and it turned out there was only one grain of rice.

Apparently, Nawang Wulan requires only a grain of rice to meet the rice needs of the family in a day. When Nawang Wulan went home and opened the lid of a pot, there was only a grain of rice in it. Nawang Wulan angry because her husband had disobeyed her orders.

Nawang Wulan became sad, because since then she had to cook the rice as a human being. Consequently it was used continuously. Slowly but surely, their rice was depleted, while the harvest season was still not yet arrived. When one day, Nawang Wulan was going to take the grain, she saw a piece of scarf sticking out behind a pile of rice. When drawn and cared for, Nawang Wulan remembered if it was her Goddess scarf.

Apparently all this time you are the one who hid my scarf. And because of the barn's contents continued to decrease, in the end I could find it again. It would have to be the will of the Above, she said to Jaka Tarub. Nawang Wulan then said goodbye and asked him to care for their children well.

Jaka Tarub asked her not to leave, but Nawang Wulan has already wore her scarf. Remember me when you saw a full moon. I'll comfort you from up there, said Nawang Wulan. She was later flown to the sky towards Nirvana, leaving Jaka Tarub who cried in remorse.

Such an ending! The ending that I saw on FTV movie is a happy ending.
