When Mother's Words Were No Longer Be Heard

August 30, 2012

The Sampang Riot

I still remember the words from the elder neighbour, when I was at young age. It's better for kids to be naughty, when they were still children, rather than they become naughty adults. That words suddenly came up in my mind after reading the news about what happened in Sampang, Madura Island, last Sunday, August 26, 2012.

Mass anarchist that have been acted by Ustadz Rois Alhukama's sunni muslims followers to his older brother's shia muslims followers, Ustadz Tajul Muluk, was made 1 man killed, some were injured, and more than 9 houses were burn, in Karang Gayam village, Sampang. The police had arrested Rois as the primary suspect, while his brother Tajul had been already received 2 years in jail conviction for sentence of blasphemy.

The riot actually was started because of personal matter between the 2 brothers who had been conflicted each other, then spreaded into their own religious belief, sunni and shia. According to Khairu Ummah, Tajul's and Rois' mother, little Rois was a decent boy, on the other hand, little Tajul was a naughty boy. She never thought that after they were adults, Rois became the one who never listened her words.

Ummah said that the riot will not happen, if her husband, Makmun was still alive. Makmun, who died 7 years ago, was the one who mediated when his sons conflicted. If only Father were still here, there would not be anything like this. Because of what Father had said, always be obeyed by the children. If it me who said so, it will be ignored by them, said Ummah, whose head was also injured by a thrown stone from angry mobs who attacked her house. I was so sad and embarrassed. It is a personal matter which has long tails, moreover, it involved in a life of a man, said Ummah to Harian Pagi Surya.

According to the Human Rights activist, the attact to Shia community was ever happened before, exactly in December 2011. The suspects were the same mobs. Only there're new mobs added due to many donations, said Vice Executive Director of Human Rights Working Group, Chairul Anam.

Meanwhile, Komnas HAM (Indonesian National Committee of Human Rights) claimed since earlier had already known that there were potential conflicts between Shia Muslims with other Sunni Muslims around them. Our recomendation was being ignored. Several our investigation results were never been reacted, until that attack was happened, said Chief of Komnas HAM, Ifdhal Kasim to Jawa Pos, in Jakarta.

The tolerance between religious Maduranese communities was very high. Maduranese Sunni muslims also memorized Shia muslims salawat, said Mahfud MD, Chairman of Mahkamah Konstitusional (Constitutional Court), a Maduranese figure, to Jawa Pos reporter.

Education is the key point for people who live in cultural diversity, to not get easily be provoked by well educated whom they called master.

If you are parents, teach your kids well enough educations! And not only from any institutions, but also from your own family educations and affections. Be parents that treated your children as friends, not like adults talked to kids!

A site with high Page Rank (PR) doesn't mean that the site will be high in search ranking, or search engine result pages (SERPs). SEO methods such as, posts in forums, comments on other blogs, and link promoting on social media, will increase the site's ranking on a specific keyword's SERPs.

For a new site, having many backlinks will increase the site's visibility on search engine. Moreover, if the site's backlinks are from and to high quality related sites, it will impact on the site's PR. The more high a site's PR, the more often Googlebot crawled it, and indexed its pages.

You can check how many pages that Google had indexed your sites by googling it. For instance: site:verdilaurent.blogspot.com, or inurl:verdilaurent.blogspot.com. Change verdilaurent.blogspot.com with your sites URL.

List of 50 .edu Blogs for Building Backlinks

August 21, 2012

When you are commenting on a blog, and placing links of your URL site, it can give dofollow link to the your sites. However, most blogs are now marked with nofollow tag, which is useless in search engines. But I disagree with that statement. Although from the post that you've already commented on, your site was not getting indexed by the search engine, Google still counted the blogs domain as your backlinks. You can see it in your Google Webmaster tools, links to your site pages.

Also it's still managed to drive traffic to your site. Your blog comment will get clicked on by the blog's admin and the readers of the blog, only if your comments are, interesting, giving curiosity to know who has wrote the comment, controversy with the blog post's point of view, or related to the discussion of the other commenters who also posted on the blog.

Although .edu and .gov sites don't improve your site PR automatically, having backlinks from them were believed by many SEO experts as the Google juice links, and might improve your site visibility in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs), due to .edu and .gov sites are having high and trusted rank.

On the list below, .edu and .ac blogs are just the same thing. I try to sort them in alphabetical order. Some blogs were auto approved enable, or without comment moderation.

Semar Philosophy: The Javanese True Ways of Life Quotes

August 19, 2012

Painting of Semar on a Javanese wayang
Painting of Semar on a Javanese wayang kulit

Javanese poets in their literary works had been described that Semar was not just an ordinary commoner, but Semar was known as Batara Ismaya, the brother of Batara Guru, the king of the gods. Although on Javanese traditional Wayang Kulit performance, Semar often played the role as a servant with his 3 sons, Gareng, Petruk and Bagong.

Kris (Kris = Keris = Cross, traditional Javanese sword) of Semar Mesem, a really small kris, not bigger than an adult palm of hand, and easily be put into your pocket, was often believed by lots of Javanese people used to gain loves and respects from others (by adding with some spells and rituals). So, that others will kneel before him, or to be fear of. But, Kris of Semar Mesem was not an ordinary kris. Only paranormals or a person who received premonition can get the kris. In other words, it was a magic kris, but also real (I've seen it by myself).

Kris of Semar Mesem

Sorry! That was out of topic. OK then! Some Javanese people had already known that Semar was our guide to understand the meaning of the true lifes itself. Some ancient Javanese quotes was known labelled under the pictures or paintings of Semar who always breast naked, and only wears Batik sheet with Parang Kusumorojo pattern. Below are some of the Javanese true ways of life quotes, that was believed Semar had been said to his 3 sons, and often performed on Wayang Kulit, from generations through generations.

And for anyone who had managed to meet with his 4 soul brothers, kakang kawah, adi ari - ari, sedulur papat, kelima pancer, means that, your elder brother of the amniotic fluid, your younger brother of the placenta, four brothers and the five (you) as the center, means that he has found his true teacher/master.

I had already met them, their faces are just like me. My 4 soul brothers sometimes helped me when I needed them.

How did I call them?

I used this spell, kakang kawah, adi ari - ari, sedulur papat, kelima pancer added with my wishes, such as rewangono aku nyambut gawe, means, help me with my work, or tambanono laraku, means, heal my wounds. It really works on me.

Sorry, but this spell, kakang kawah, adi ari - ari, sedulur papat, kelima pancer, was wrong. According to my new friend that I just met recently, in that spell, I only mentioned 2 out of my 4 brothers. My elder and my younger brother. So, who was the other two? My new friend said that it was getih (blood) and puser (belly button), my second and third brother. So, the spell should be cast as, kakang kawah, adi ari - ari, getih lan puser, sedulurku papat, kelima pancer.

But, before we are going to cast the spell, we should also mention our Dear Lord of God. Any God or Goddess in your believes or faith. It's kind of permission for your 4 soul brothers to be able to be seen by you, in their original color of their aura. Kawah (the amniotic fluid) is white, getih (blood) is red, puser (belly button) is black and the last ari - ari (placenta) is blue. Their 4 aura colors is as the same as the color of their clothes they are wearing. That was what my new friend was experiencing.

In my own experience, I met my 4 soul brothers only by shadows of 4 colors, not wearing any clothes or even wanted to talk with me. Not what my new friend was experincing, he could even talked with them with the same voice as his, just like we talk to ourselves.

They are always beside you until you die, kawah (the amniotic fluid) is in front of you, getih (blood) is on your right side, puser (belly button) is behind you, and ari - ari (placenta) is on your left side, added my new friend ending our chat that day.

Screening for Cervical Cancer

August 13, 2012

A woman will aware more about her health, after she realized of having strange feeling on her reproducing organs. She still kept the feeling for a long time, and finally gave up and went to see doctor, until later the doctor diagnosed her illness as cervical cancer in advanced stage.

In Surabaya, there were lots of women who had been detected of having pre-cancerous processes of cervical cancer, a cancer that forms in the tissues of the cervix, the organ connecting the uterus and vagina. Cervical cancer is often caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection. Cervical cancer is a slow growing cancer type, it may not have any symptoms. It can be detected with regular Pap tests, or Pap Smear, a procedure in which cells are scraped from the cervix and looked at under a microscope.

But Public Health Service of Surabaya City had already used the see and treat program, an examination of the cervix using VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic-acid) method. VIA , a method of applying acetic-acid 3% to 5% in the cervical region. Via was also known as an alternative to cytology in screening for cervical cancer in poorly resourced locations. After 2 minutes of observation, it will be seen the color changes of the cervix. If a white spot is seen, it shows the existence of pre-cancerous lesions. VIA term will be positive, Sri explained.

Since January to June 2012, there were 2,561 women recorded of having the examination. Among them, 284 women were VIA-positive. The rest, 2,277 women had been detected as VIA-negative, and in safe condition. Those who had positive results were sent to the hospital to get treatment with cyrotherapy, said the Head of Health Services, Public Health Service of Surabaya City, Sri Setyani, MD.

If the pre-cancerous signs are detected, VIA-positive, the patients will soon be treated, so that the symptoms are not growing to the next level. For an VIA-positive, the treatment is cryotherapy by using a cyro gun, Sri added. Cryotherapy, a form of therapy consisting in the local or general use of cold. Cryotherapy is used to treat a variety of benign and malignant lesions. The therapy aims to kill the abnormal cells by freezing it.

Medical cryotherapy gun
Medical cryotherapy gun

If only for the examination, all of the medical staff of Public Health Clinics on every districs are able to do so. However, cryotherapy with cyro gun can be done in several Public Health Clinics. This condition is associated with the limited tools of Cyro gun. Patients from another health center are referred to one of the 5 Public Health Clinics which have the tools to cryotherapy, Sri added.

Compared to Pap Smear, VIA is simpler and does not require much equipment. The price is cheaper than the Pap Smear. The result can be known without a laboratory tests, while the accuracy rate reaches 60 to 90%, explained Sri. The sooner the condition of the sex organs are known, the cyrotherapy can be done immediately. It is useful to prevent advanced stage patients, Sri added.

Various efforts have been made by the Public Health Service of Surabaya City, in order to make easier for all women who wanted her intimate organs to be examined, including the recent opening of 2 see and treat program checkpoints. One in a traditional market of Pucang, Surabaya. The other in Darmo Trade Center, one of the most visited mall by women in Surabaya.

In my own opinion, the Public Health Service of Surabaya City acts was very precisely. But, I guess not all women, even for some well educated women still don't know about the benefits of having Pap Smear or VIA test. Another problem is that, whether using Pap Smear or VIA test, if lots of women do not want to be examined, because of feeling shy.

How To Get Rid of Head Lice Naturally

August 06, 2012

Mother hunting for headlice, a painting by Jan Siberechts
Mother hunting for headlice, a painting by Jan Siberechts

It had been for about a month, my 6 years old daughter was haunted by her itchy hair. Two weeks ago, my wife discovered that it was head lice grew in my daughter's hair. All of my family's member then also got infected, me, my wife, and my 4 years old son.

Because my wife was going to use anti mosquitoes lotion to put on my daughter's hair, I remember a story when I was at young age. Story about 10 years old girl that suddenly died, shortly after using anti mosquitoes spray to get rid of her head lice. I then forbade my wife to use the lotion, and started to googling all natural treatment for head lice in the internet.

What do I got? Most informations I got in the top page of my Google result, were more than useless informations, because most of the writers did not experince by himself, only gatherred some informations on the internet. How to treat human head lice has been debated and studied for centuries. That was trully the fact of my Google result's conclusion.

What is Louse?

According to book 11 page 115 of Encyclopedia International by Clarence J. Hylander. Louse, a common name for many species of small, flat-bodied, wingless insects that lead exclusively parasitic lives. The bitting, or chewing, lice of order Mallophaga are mostly external parasites of birds, although a few species parasitize mammals. Lice mouth parts are modified for chewing. They feed on bits of feathers, hair and skin.

Lice are transmitted from one host to another by contact. Occasionally these lice may be picked up by man as a result of handling infested animals, but they do not remain on the human body. Common species are the body louse, Menacanthus stramineus, and the shaft louse, Menopon gallinae, both parasites of chickens.

The sucking lice, of order Anoplura, have mouth parts modified into protrusible needlelike structures that pierce the host organism's skin, and suck its blood. Sucking lice are external parasites of mammals. Included in the order is Pediculus humanus, the human body louse, which infests hair and clothing.

Louse is spread by promiscuous use of combs, brushes, and headgear. Other related species are spread by contact with infested clothing and bedding. Adult human body lice are managed to transmit typhus fever, European relapsing fever, and trench fever (which reached epidemic proportions among soldiers during World War I).

Louse infestations may appear through unhygienic living conditions, especially when there is little opportunity for thorough bathing. But it is possible for you to get infected eventhough you had been already living hygienically. Lice infestations are controlled by dusting affected individual with dichloro diphenyl trichloroethane (DDT), and by fumigating or sterilizing their clothing.

Natural Treatment

Using lice comb

Deluxe Lice Comb by Medi Sweep
Deluxe Lice Comb by Medi Sweep

Head lice infestations can be controlled by using this lice comb, and regular hair washes.

Vinegar, Vaseline, and Mayonnaise

I do not recommend you to use it, because many scientists had already doubted about the treatment using above ingredients. I do not dare to apply vinegar to my daughter's hair. Vaseline and mayonnaise to be left on your hair overnight? I laugh instantly after reading the article. Why? You may find hard to remove Vaseline from your children's hair after all night day. Mayonnaise may turn poisonous when it is not refrigerated. Your children may scratch their head while sleeping, and then put their fingers to their mouth.

Garlic

Garlic had been used as an antiseptic, and Louis Pasteur was the first who reported the antibacterial, and antifungal properties of garlic. But I did not get a chance to try it, after my daughter, and my whole family member were finally managed to get rid of head lice using other method.

So, what was my way to get rid of head lice in my family? I only use these 2 products for hair and head scalp treatment:

Minyak Kayu Putih Cap Lang

I was surprised to see above Indonesian original product had already been sold at Amazon.com. I've been used Minyak Kayu Putih from several famous brands in Indonesia since I was a child. Back then my mom used a brand from Cap Gajah in which made by its original factory in Surabaya, East Java.

When my 1st daughter was just a baby, I used a brand from Konicare for Minyak Kayu Putih, and Minyak Telon. No matter what brands you choose, as long as it contains 100% cajuput (Melaleuca leucadendra) oil. The name cajuput is derived from its Indonesian name, kayu putih, which translate in English as white wood.

There are many benefits you might get by using Minyak Kayu Putih, such as, helps to relieve muscle aches, abdominal pain, flatulence, nausea, and itching from insect bites.

When I got itching in my head at night, I directly applied several drops of it to my head scalp and back of my neck. Sometimes I found a louse pop out from beneath the back of my neck's skin. When I put the louse on the floor and dropped it with Minyak Kayu Putih, it reacted like the oil was hurting it, and for several minutes, the louse stopped moving and died.

It was such a coincidence that I bought this shampoo last month, in which I never used it before. My family had started to use it for about 2 weeks from now, and after I read its ingredients, it consists of Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil.

Tea tree oil is usually used by applying to the skin for acne, fungal infections of the nail (onychomycosis), lice, scabies, athlete's foot (tinea pedis), and ringworm. Tea tree oil has benefits as local antiseptic for cuts and abrasions, for burns, insect bites and stings, boils, vaginal infections, recurrent herpes labialis, toothache, infections of the mouth and nose, sore throat, and for ear infections such as otitis media and otitis externa. Some people add it to bath water to treat cough, bronchial congestion, and pulmonary inflammation.

Although my daugther always washed her hair twice a day using shampoo for kids, the lice would not be vanished. But, after my wife used above shampoo for adult, and added three drops of Minyak Kayu Putih Cap Lang to wash my daughter's hair, twice a day for three days, my daughter head lice were totally vanished.
