New Earth, New Hope

December 13, 2011

On Dec 5, 2011 NASA's Kepler Mission confirmed Kepler22b as New Earth. Kepler22b is located 600 light-years away. NASA Kepler Mission also confirmed that liquid water could exist on Kepler22b surface. This indicates life support on Kepler22b, a habitable zone.

Kepler22b is about 2.4 times larger than Earth, and has a temperature of about 22C. Kepler Team also found 2,326 planets of which 207 are approximately Earth-size.

Will Kepler22b be our New Earth? Will NASA space ship technology able to travel 600 light-years? If 1 light-years is 9,460,730,472,580.8 km, then 600 light-years? Count it by yourself!!
